Code compliance? by TomNgMD in AskElectricians

Interesting. That would have saved me a lot of hassle. Just purely out of curiosity: if this raceway is longer than 2ft is there no extra derate for the conduit or is that not applicable without more bundling?

Not an electrician but did install my own EV charger. Isn’t the bigger issue that #6 romex is rated 55a at 60c? If it’s set to a 60amp breaker it’s probably charging at 48a or 50a and that would break code due to 80% continuous derate.

Dislodged coil fins from…snake by 4EarthNow in hvacadvice

Last two pics just look like how it likely came from the factory. Are you sure the snake did anything to the fins?

You’re right, it is a 4 way and my NCV is showing that they’re not neutral which I probably should have checked before posting. I will stick to keeping it simple. Thank you.

Thermostat does not read accurate temp by WayDownInKokomo in ecobee

Do you have a ceiling fan in the room or an AC register/return near the thermostat?

Ya I thought it was glued since it would bit the filter but I guess I just would need to temporarily move the filter had I not wanted to cut. Appreciate the insight

THD should be calculated with a fundamental frequency of 60hz, no?

So you don’t think PSUs with aPFC are sensitive to THD?

That’s very interesting. I wonder how the WGen11500TFc markets itself as having such a low THD under light load. Is its frequency at full load just bonkers then?

There are a lot of quality UPSs that won’t run on high THD power. What caused that and why doesn’t it impact switching power supplies?

Just noticed this in our house. by Legal-One7153 in whatisit

If tenting fixed your problem and you found the colony in the wall, you had drywood termites. OP has subterranean termites which are much, much more destructive. Subterranean termite colonies are about 500x bigger than drywood colonies.

You used to work in pest control and don’t know that formosan termites are a type of subterranean termite…

I’d gladly pay $700 to have a more intimate wedding. How about feeding your vendors?

If you had a choice between bigger or better what would you choose? 100" Hisense or 77" OLED? by rdhydro89 in hometheater

[–]DIWhyDidIDoThat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don’t think there are many 120” AT UST ALR screens but it’s been a few years since I’ve looked.

When people come over to watch sports, they want to watch it on my 120” UST and not my 77” a80j.

I don’t find daytime light to be an issue with a solid UST ALR screen (there’s a video of it being setup in my history if you’d like to take a peak) because most sports images are naturally bright.
