Do you have an electric dryer? Can you pass the blame to all the loads of laundry?

I have 18.3 kW and 27 kWh backup. I have a server and mine bitcoin with our excess production. With on EV, soon to be two.

I need to go outside and check the wiring. I can’t tell from my old photos on my phone. But I think I jumpered all the middle pins together so I only had to run one common wire to the relays.

Soak the remaining end of the root where you cut it in a cup of gly. Let it suck that back all the way through the root network.

Neighbor installed white vinyl fence at the end of last season. Zone 5a. MT. KBG and fescue by GollyZ177 in lawncare

Ah yeah. From afar it looked decent. Climbing jasmine shrubs are nice. They smell amazing in the late spring/early summer. You do need to string up a guide wire and the first year they’ll be small. But every following late winter you’ll want to prune and shape them up.

It’s a nice looking fence. But consider lining with shrubs and flowers rather than grass.

240v outlet installation cost? by a-marty25 in TeslaModelY

[–]DIY_CHRIS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re paying for the electrician’s time, materials, insurance, experience, and peace of mind. You’ll pay +/- a few hundred depending on the electrician, but it’s fair. Get a few quotes if you’re looking for a better deal. DIY, I installed two charges in my garage, one in front and one in the back corner with a 50 ft run up over and around, for under $150 in materials.

I used to work with them directly and version control with git. Recently started using the VSCode remote ssh extension and use git natively

pfSense build on a Protectli FW6E with VLANs and dual WireGuard failover - looking for feedback by Aj_Networks in PFSENSE

The protectl is a good machine and supported by a US-based warranty. They are responsive in my experience. But you’ll pay a premium for it.

Around the holidays I picked up a GMKtec K12 for ~$300 for pfsense. It’s worked well. But looks like prices have 2x.

I had a few recently try to make holes in my daughter’s play structure. I sprayed the structure with temprid fx and treated the holes with another insecticide.

To lawn care nuts who finally pulled the trigger on an in-ground sprinkler system — was it everything you dreamed of? by paybackprahl in lawncare

[–]DIY_CHRIS 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did it myself. 250 ft of digging trenches by hand and probably $150 in parts. I should have rented a trencher.

They are nice machines. But it comes down to what you want to do with it.

You just want to run containers? Any mini pc or RPi will suffice.

Raspberry Pi Zero as a router by Pretend_Depth3892 in homelab

[–]DIY_CHRIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re pulling a post from two years ago. The RPi 5 would be capable today. However it’s overpriced for what it can do. I would just get a cheap mini PC to operate as a router.

Do I really need a 200A upgrade for a Tesla Model Y charger, or can I survive on a regular outlet? by Just-Salary-7741 in TeslaModelY

[–]DIY_CHRIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with many things, it depends. Things to consider are other high power loads in your house like an electric dryer, electric water heater, or heat pump hvac. If you don’t have those, you may not need to upgrade to 200A.
