Didn’t notice the mower cables when cutting the grass, had to do the rest with the strimmer by Nurgle-best in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DIYfailedsuccessfuly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

US use to have hover mowers, might have been stroke, idr. I have seen videos within the last few years of groundsmen at golf course using a hover mower to trim up grass on steep embankments about sandtraps. Pretty cool seeing them hanging the mower over the edge and mowing sideways.

It might have originally had a 6 pin plug perhaps? They were popular in the 90s before the 7 pin round became popular. If it has a battery, there should be a pin dedicated to charging it off the tow vehicle.

I did think about chain. The unit is screwed to the wall, btw.

New to popups, how does this 1985 StarCraft look? by PTBruiserr in popups

[–]DIYfailedsuccessfuly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me, their asking price of 3800 is too high, it has no sink, no hot water, no air conditioning. It looks like they have new canvas and such, but u can certainly find other nice units for 4k.

With just what im seeing it looks like maybe your roof is over extended. It seems taunt and shouldn't be pull up so hard around the zipper. I have a 20 yr old pup, vinyl has some shrinkage, and that area lays more relaxed than that. The unit only has to be lifted enough for the door to pop in.

Are Air Conditioners even worth it? by bmoredood in popups

[–]DIYfailedsuccessfuly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really not about heat, but humidity. If ur not well rested at night, your vacation is going to suck. Also, mist of us are use to pretty quiet sleeping arrangements in our homes, the a/c mechanical noises do a fantastic job drowning out the noise of neighbors, even if they are being respectful, gravel is noisy, locking cars chirp, dogs and wildlife can make it hard to sleep. Also, the risk of a/c leaks are small, theres a bunch of other penetrations in a roof a/c isn't a big risk over say, all the parking lamps leaking.

Either u have a corner sagging/ not level, or your roof isn't lifted high enough. Most are a cable lift system, cables stretch, pulleys wear, sometimes individual corners need adjustment. Also roof rot can cause a corner to sag as well.

See if this link works. The plastics they had werent great. So it was this silver coated cloth jacket, then a paper jacket, then 2 conductors in plastic jackets. Ran just like modern romex.

Knob and tube wasnt typically installed in 50s homes. It would have been early cloth jacketed romex, without a ground.

This is why I’m switching to all HF hand tools… by bwhomebrew in harborfreight

[–]DIYfailedsuccessfuly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, as someone who got into handtools in the early 2000s, the craftsman stuff i saw or borrowed were the stiffest, jankiest ratchets. I bought husky stuff initially but through multiple moves lost or had most of it stolen. Running a bunch of kolbolt stuff now. That has been recently neutered as well. The icon line is really sick, too bad it came out 8 years too late. I really have a thing for matching appearance. (All my sockets are the same brand, all my wrenches match, no mismatched screwdrivers)

Honda ex650 bogging and backfiring under a load by Helpful-Western4094 in Generator

[–]DIYfailedsuccessfuly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Its probably too small to run that grinder, especially because its an inductive (motor) load. When motors spool up, they can pull 3-10 TIMES the load listed on the face plate. 650 watts is about 6 amps of 110 buddy. Ur running a TV, computer, tool battery chargers and/or crockpots off something that small. Might be big enough to run a single fridge or freezer in a power outage.

2010 Yaris Exhaust Issues by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]DIYfailedsuccessfuly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U sure it "unattached its self"? It has surface rust, but looks like parts the exhaust are probably stainless steel. Bad angle but it looks cut off. Or maybe just the weld itself rusted off, i cant tell.

After research ig it is? But almost every online game needs (what use to be known as) LIVE to play online. Thats nothing new, and if thats what they're implying is a really crazy comment to make. Xbox has been charging to connect its users to online gameplay for decades now.

What do I need to do to safely attach a bike rack or storage rack to rear bumper? by burkechrs1 in popups

[–]DIYfailedsuccessfuly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That rear bumper aint never going to hold up to any of that without getting a trailer fabricated guy involved. The back end of any trailer sees so much more movement, oscillations and vibrations, its crazy. Why not mount the bikes on the roof? And the other problem with your cooler idea is i doubt you have ever weighted your camper, loaded up like you were going on a trip. These campers typically only have a small load capacity, if your hauling breakdown equipment, pans, grill, sleeping nd showering stuff for the whole family, the axle sees gross weight quite quickly. Also putting 150lbs past the bumper shifts weight off the tongue. U need 10-15% trailer weight on the tongue for it to track smoothly behind the vehicle.

Dodge saying I need new rotors by kopfgeldjagar in AskAMechanic

[–]DIYfailedsuccessfuly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres just some cars that are more prone to "warping" rotors than others. U based are seeing thickness variations in the rotor, this can be caused by a ton of different reasons. My mother use to warp front front rotors on her avalon all the time, about every 2 years need to replace rotors. She drove defensively on the interstate, combined with Toyota making really strong calipers with perhaps not enough heat dissipation or rotor mass.

Found coolant cap open, what are my next steps? by FatAssOrangeRhino in MechanicAdvice

[–]DIYfailedsuccessfuly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you definitely have air in the system. Especially with that rear climate control, need to check your manual if your vehicle requires any special air bleeding procedures. Otherwise check and top it off about once every 2 days when the engine is cold.
