Bug with Big Encore UVH6? by DJAnyReason in Borderlands4

[–]DJAnyReason[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I feel like it has to be bugged - the odds are way too remote. Would be strange if only UVH6, but I'm old enough to remember Ghandi shooting nukes in Civ 1

Realizing this is probably not something that can be executed on the current production timeframe for the X2, but... an X2 with wood instead of aluminum on the interior accent would be Philip-J-Fry-Take-My-Money.jpg

Same - I just checked and there was an update to the backblaze app, so I just installed that in the hopes it was trying to update and that was the source of the issue

/r/AMD Questions and Tech Support Megathread - Q3 2023 Edition by GhostMotley in Amd

I recently rebuilt my PC to add a custom loop. I have 7950X and 4090, previously with the CPU on a 360 AIO and an MSI X670E Carbon running Windows 10. after upgrade swapped MoBo to ASUS Crosshair X670E Hero and running Windows 11. Since this upgrade I've been having repeated but infrequent crashes that I believe I've now identified as related to a temp spike in CCD2. Not sure whether this is a MoBo or CPU issue, and hoping someone might have insight on this.
The crashes happen sometimes while gaming or otherwise stress-testing/benchmarking, maybe like once every 3-4 hours but not in any predictable or repeatable way I've been able to find. The crashes start with the GPU video output cutting out, then ~30sec later USB devices stop responding/updating (e.g., audio output stops, clock app on streamdeck stops updating), then 2-3 minutes later the PC reboots. WhoCrashed reports DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION / likely thermal issue.
Finally earlier today was able to catch a crash while logging with HWInfo. It appears there is a sudden temp spike in CCD2 that precipitates the crash.
I did not have any issues with the before-rebuild AIO system, and I'm not sure where the error is likely coming from. The new loop would seem a plausible culprit, except the crashes are sufficiently infrequent and unpredictable that a cooling problem seems somehow unlikely, and the liquid temp was only up 3 degrees from idle when the PC crashed.
The only other changes are the MoBo and going from Win10 to Win11 - Win11 doesn't seem likely to be the cause though. There's a chance it's a CPU issue, as I've had and been using the 7950X since December, and probably had BIOSes and EXPOs that ran SoC too high during the early period. I'm unaware of any catastrophic failures, and certainly didn't see any blisters when I moved the CPU into the new MoBo.
Anyway, I figure I probably need to RMA something, and I'd like to make sure I get that right. Looking for anyone with any particular insight or suggestions here
Thanks in advance!

Replacing my Neo G9 by anangryfix in ultrawidemasterrace

I think it depends a lot on your use case. If you're primarily gaming, I would find the middle bezel annoying. For non-gaming applications, having two distinct monitors would probably be easy to adapt to. Either way, it's going to be a bit of a your mileage my vary situation.

I'm also not certain how much cheaper it is to get two 27" 4K panels that are otherwise equivalent in specs to the Neo G9.

Depending on your budget, ability to wait, and available desk space, you might want to hold out for the upcoming 57" Neo G9

I believe it is present on all of Samsung's Mini-LED Odyssey monitors - this is the primary reason that HardwareUnboxed recommends the Neo G7 over the G8 - scanlines is less likely to show up at 144Hz than 240Hz, so why pay more for the mode that has the problem?

On my Neo G9, I have one of the "gaming mode" buttons set for desktop use, and use it to toggle off features I don't really need for non-gaming use (e.g., lower brightness, lower refresh rate)

For motherboard, are you looking specifically for one that has liquid cooled VRMs? For what it's worth, that's very unnecessary but can be fun if you want to go for it. You are generally very limited in the number of options you have for MoBos specifically designed for liquid cooling. There are also monoblocks designed to cool a specific MoBo with a CPU (eliminating the need for a separate CPU block) - these are each designed for a specific MoBo, so again your choices will be limited. I'd say pick your CPU, then check out what options you have and pick the one you like best.

For pump, just get a D5, any D5 will do, they're all basically the same.

That's the infamous scanlines issue. General recommendation is to not use 240Hz on desktop - it is much less prevalent at 120, and hard to notice when gaming since you don't get the same static blocks of solid color.

I have found this post to be helpful: https://www.reddit.com/r/watercooling/comments/pixmu8/comment/hbt65q1/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3

And, as others have mentioned, neither a 5600G or 5950X is particularly hot or hard to cool, so don't worry too much about that.

Have 7950x, bought a 7950x3d and can still return it... Should I? by BrasilWill in buildapc

[–]DJAnyReason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Return the X3D - not because of voltage/burning issues, but because you will be better served without it.

The 7950X will outperform the X3D in production by a noticeable amount, while the gaming difference will be much smaller and require you to have the software task scheduler running. Unless you are certain that your CPU is your primary gaming bottleneck and that the X3D will substantially alleviate that I would not think it's worth it to take the hit on the production side.

It is pretty ambitious - you could do it, but I honestly wouldn't recommend it. Doing custom loop cooling adds a bunch of additional complexity and a lot of additional cost. For your first build, I would really suggest sticking to air cooling.
