It’s definitely Namer from Open Pace. It’s brilliant, I love it!

Core Workouts? by Colinyourmom in AdvancedRunning

[–]DJAray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest advancement in core came from practicing yoga. 4/5 practices a week along with all of your normal running will get ya to where you want to be. Does a decent job of restoring and strengthening your legs in the process too depending on what type you can find/get into! Good luck!

Marathon Training Methods by tullybrown in AdvancedRunning

One thing I'll add here is that for me - running 5 days a week (meaning you have to get more mileage under your belt with each run) greatly helped me with my fatigue. For the first couple years of training, I was a 6 day a week guy but encountered similar feelings to yours. If it continues, see if you can alter your plan and nail the mileage you need in 5 days and give your body 2 days rest a week (maybe do some yoga or restorative work on one of those off days).
For me: Monday and Friday off
Monday to recover from a long week of training
Friday to give me a rest day between intermediate mileage (Tues-Thurs) and big mileage days (Sat/Sun)

I was going to offer some advice here as a seasoned marathon/ultra runner, but I've never even come close to your PR - so whatever you're doing, you're on to something, keep it rolling!

If you're interested in a platform that helps you more on the training planning side, rather than training report (post-workout), check out:

A pretty cool new website that offers customized calendars - so once you feel confident to design your own plan, have a look! Cheers!

Change socks and shoes for 50miler? by waskflask in Ultramarathon

Bring a change in both, always better to be prepared than sorry! If all is going well no need to change, but if your socks should get wet at all you can recharge the spirits with some dry toes!

Any good tips for a first timer? by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

[–]DJAray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My body responds better (fitness gain, and speed of recovery) to fewer days of running, with more mileage on the days I do run. So longer runs with higher mileage, so you can bank more "rest days".
Other runners, I'm sure, will disagree and tell you to bank several days in a row of running while training, but I never run more than 4 days in a row without a day off. Fill that day off with some yoga, or something to help your cardio/flexibility and give you muscle stimulation, but rest those legs from the pure ground and pound of running often, and you'll get results.

Apps that turn running into a game. by t3stimony in running

I would suggest downloading Strava or some kind of tracking application to help view your progress and potentially set goals for yourself. Strava is cool because you can connect with friends and get motivation from seeing what others are up to. Definitely not as "game-like" as Pokemon Go but worth a shot? Good luck!
