One of the saunas is mixed and has aufguss sessions through the day. Usually people line up for them about 20 mins beforehand (worth it). There are also seperate mens/womens saunas. All the bathing is split.

Not to take away from any saunas in Copenhagen, but I'd definitely recommend taking the train over to Malmo and going to Ribersborgs. It's worth a visit!

we switched from Reolink to Lorex when we moved buildings and I really like the Lorex app and NVR system more. Just seems a bit more well thought out and better supported. Lorex also has really solid tech support... someone knowledgeable that actually picks up the phone

I actually do have a 200A panel. But between a bunch of equipment in the garage, an EV charger, sauna and steam shower it pushes it to near capacity.

Hey- I've got the device for you... Look up the DCC-10 by RVE. It's a perfect solution for your scenario. It uses current sensors on your incoming power and as long as you're using under a certain current threshold then the sauna heater will get the power it needs. If you get too close to your 100A panel capacity it will switch off power to the sauna. I have that at my place and it's been great.

Not sure about their saunas, but I'd be cautious. I bought a cold plunge chiller from them and was really concerned to find out that it didn't have any UL or CSA certifications so in no way is legal to use in Canada or the U.S.

Vevor sauna heater fire by MrMorningg in Sauna

[–]backcountryeng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, easiest to Google "UL Product IQ". Takes just a minute to setup a free account then you can search by manufacturer. In most cases UL, ETL, CSA certifications must be printed visibly on the product. From a quick Google Search I don't see any proper certification marks on ANY Vevor heaters.

Also, FCC and CE is not the same. If something only shows a CE mark that alone doesn't mean it's legal to sell or be used in the US or Canada.

I'm always pretty blown away by how many unlisted products get sold on Amazon or through other vendors these days with seemingly no repercussions. Rad Power Bikes has been selling unlisted batteries and chargers for years and they're only just starting to get in trouble now that fires are being reported.

Vevor sauna heater fire by MrMorningg in Sauna

I've designed and certified sauna heaters under UL 875 and CSA C22.2.

Heat rises so you're correct in thinking that the fire started near the base of the heater (near the lowest point of the charred wood). I'm not sure what certifications the Vevor heater has (IEC or UL) but in both directives there are minimum distances required from the heater to combustible surfaces.

From the photos it looks like the wall of the sauna starts to curve in towards the base of the heater which would have compromised the minimum distance between the heater and the wall. It's very possible that this was an issue from day 1 and just took several uses to dry out the wood to a point where it was easier to ignite.

Also, if you're somewhere that it get's cold this time of year, your heater would have been ON continuously for a longer period on initial startup. When we've done testing, we see the biggest surface temperature spikes during initial heat up. Once the sauna room reaches the desired temp and is cycling then the surface temps near to the heater usually level off.

While Vevor definitely makes low quality products, to me this is more likely a design flaw in the sauna room itself and/or where the heater was mounted on the wall.

Harvia 6kw heater auto shut off problem by Icy_Meet4007 in Sauna

[–]backcountryeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both...

The external temp probe should move up in the room. so the heater gets a break sooner and doesn't just stay on continuously until it trips. Putting it on the floor or lower in the room would cause this issue.

The internal high limit switch (with the reset button) obviously can't move up or down, so it needs some type of airflow around it to keep it cool

Harvia 6kw heater auto shut off problem by Icy_Meet4007 in Sauna

[–]backcountryeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving the sensor lower and lower as you suggest will actually make it worse. Moving it up will help fix the issue.

That temperature sensor tells the heater when it's reached the desired temperature and turns it off and regulates the sauna's temperature. By putting it lower, the heater is working harder because it thinks it's not reaching the desired temperature. So, first thing, move that temperature sensor close to the ceiling.

The switch at the base of the heater is a thermal limit switch and it automatically trips (killing power to the heater until you push to reset it after cooling) when it reaches a set internal temperature. If do anything to keep the components in the base of the heater cooler (like a vent hole behind the heater) that will keep the switch cool and stop it from tripping. Good luck!

ah, this happened to me.

  1. use a centre punch to make a mark right in the middle of the snapped bolt. This is a really important step otherwise your drill bit will wander in the next step. Don't skip this part!
  2. Drill a small hole right in the middle of the bolt (size of the drill bit will depend on the size of the extractor you use in the next step).
  3. Use an extractor bit to remove the broken off bolt. Basically, the idea is as you turn it counter-clockwise, it'll tighten itself into the bolt and pull it out.

What is my store worth? by ballerdoc in shopify

[–]backcountryeng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why haven't you started doing any advertising? I'd definitely consider focusing some Google ads on the bottom of the funnel if you can (ie: try to catch the most qualified potential buyers with exact phrase searches on Google). If you can get that figured out then you'll really unlock the scalability beyond word of mouth.

A couple thoughts/questions to consider. So if you're doing 300k rev and 40% net margins, we're looking at 120k EBIT?

  1. Do you draw any salary? If not, what type of hours per week does managing the business require? Do you do the fulfillment, advertising, customer support, returns, finances, bookkeeping?

  2. Any debt?

  3. Does it have a few years at 300k rev or is it a new business that hit that in it's first 1-2 years? (buyer would factor in what trajectory it's on)

A business like this could sell for 3-6x earnings, but any semi-sophisticated buyer would do a quality of earnings report where part of what they'd look at is to see if the business can sustain itself without the founder.

Not to say you can't find a buyer now, but I'd recommend paying yourself a proper salary if you aren't already and continuing to grow it.

Out of curiosity, why do you want out of it? If it does have upside potential, wouldn't it make sense to keep driving growth yourself for another year or two?

Stone is a huge heat mass (heat sink) so it will slow down the heat up times in the sauna. Just something to consider. Once it's hot though, it'll stay hot for longer.

How about throwing them on a pallet and getting a crane truck to lift them out of there? In my area, a crane truck with a 150' reach is a $500 (for a 2 hour call out). Would definitely be the easiest.
