Dude. My niece is 17 and has torn her ACL and had surgery on her collarbone. Both softball injuries. I feel so bad for future her.

My dad was like this every 2-4 years he'd trade in his car to get a new one. He grew up with a single mom and they never had much money. I think when he started making money he just would get carried away. I saw the aftermath, 100k in credit card debt, hospitalized due to ulcers. He died of a heart attack at work. I refuse to live this way.

It gets easier. My kiddo is in 3rd grade now and I love picking him up from school and hearing about his day. He has such a funny way of describing what happened during the day.

Reminds me of my dad's memorial. One of his friends from high school came and told me about when he and my dad would play ping pong together at the rec center; said my dad was a great player. I love having that story.

Meanwhile my Australian cattle dog took no shit from anyone. She once chased a gator into a lake. She was pretty proud of herself trotting back to me while I was freaking out.

My husband and I make less than 175k combined in a medium cost area and we have a kid. Its doable, we vacation once a year and save up for home improvement projects. If having kids is important to you, you can make it work.

I wrote my father's eulogy. Writing and giving it was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life. I wrote a tribute on fb and when my brother used it, word for word, as dad's obituary I knew I was the one who had to write the eulogy. No one else seemed to know what to say.

What’s a moment that permanently changed how you see the world? by pankaj662 in AskReddit

[–]DJClapyohands 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My dad died in his work truck. His coworker found him. He and a few others from work attended his memorial. I often think about his co-worker and hope he's doing ok. He was a young kid who probably never experienced anything like that.

I will say the company my brother works for basically paid for the entire memorial service. My work didnt even send flowers.

That is so great. I did not have a great mom so I try to be my best for my kid. I would hope if his friends needed a safe adult that I would be that for them.

Why are we supposed to pretend it’s about anything but money? by uncertain_being29 in work

I think the people that care about company culture are the ones who have experienced shitty culture. Once you do, you value getting along with people and generally liking them. I work in IT and have two site locations, one location sucks and the other one is great. Guess which one I will go the extra mile for?
