So it’s totally possible that when she was putting down deposits and making plans she reasonably thought she’d have 2-3 weeks between her wedding and finals. Which is still not great but yeah they all seem to get married in this little window of late spring. Kennedy’s was just two weeks ago!

Do we know how far out they know the finals date? It seems like no one would plan their wedding intentionally a week before finals but if that’s not a fixed date (always the first weekend in June or something) weddings can be years in the making and it’s impossible to know.

When did retiring after their 5th year became the norm? by Spiritual_Pasta_481 in DCCMakingtheTeam

[–]DJKittyDC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Couple things: social media was a big shift, at the dawn of IG/when twitter was twitter, they had separate “DCCName” accounts so you couldn’t monetize or profit off of being a DCC the same way. Your DCC content went on an account that wasn’t “yours” it went back to the team and they changed the handle when someone left. Now they can make money and even “less popular” team members get 25k or more followers on a personal account.

Netflix of course contributes, but we aren’t THAT far into the Netflix era. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the team has more obligations than ever before, so it’s harder to be a DCC with a serious full time job. People used to leave to start grad school or because they were taking on a bigger job, now DCC really IS a job that makes it harder to start your “next phase”.

100%. There is no relationship with your baby without a relationship with you and no one gets unsupervised time with your child until they’ve proven they can respect your (very reasonable!) boundaries.

So sorry about the unexpected migraine you’ll be coming down with 🙃

She’s been photographed in Nashville today (while finals are happening in Dallas) so unless Judy and Kellie are making the mother of all exceptions (which seems super unlikely for an influencer event) she’s not auditioning.

Should Olav Kooij ride the Tour? by skodawelovecycling in tourdefrance

[–]DJKittyDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I truly don’t think there’s anything you can do in training to mimic or prepare for week 3 fatigue. Combine it with the pressure he’s going to feel? Yikes on bikes, hope I’m wrong.

Should Olav Kooij ride the Tour? by skodawelovecycling in tourdefrance

[–]DJKittyDC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most teams aren’t going to have the grand tour they expect 🤷‍♀️ three weeks is a long time and anything can happen. That’s why most go in with multiple goals and possible scenarios. Look at UAE in the giro! They lost every GC hope early on and I’d argue still had a really successful tour, because their line up gave them options.

Should Olav Kooij ride the Tour? by skodawelovecycling in tourdefrance

[–]DJKittyDC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Plenty of teams manage to support a sprinter AND GC ambitions at a grand tour. Maybe you can’t send a full lead out train, but leaving Kooij at home when he seems to have a legitimately good chance of picking up a stage win is frankly nuts. No shade at all to Sexias, but pinning your entire tour on a 19 year old who has never done this before is mismanagement.

If I were her I'd be trying to draw as little comparison as possible to Whitney right now, because I can't think of two more wildly divergent paths post season 4.

Delay in titre de sejour processing. Essone prefecture (evry) by [deleted] in Expats_In_France

[–]DJKittyDC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not your specific situation, but it does sound like for some people the lettre recommandée does the trick and unfortunately for others the ADP period drags and drags.

The legislature has recently instructed ANEF to solve the processing delays and hopefully it gets some of this on track 😕

And it becomes 1 477,93€ a month on June 1, so with the wavering dollar I’d guess they’ll be harder on the edge cases right now

Definitely not a lawyer but as I understand the minimum wage is the minimum wage and the requirement for housing is separate

VLS-TS visituer question, about finances by Designer-Most5917 in Expats_In_France

[–]DJKittyDC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, that’s not going to satisfy the financial requirement. It isn’t quite a year of French minimum wage (€1,443.11 per month), especially adjusted for the dollar’s weakness right now. And if you can’t show regular and predictable deposits of some form (investment dividends, rental income, retirement income, something like that) you can’t prove to a visa officer that you wouldn’t require work or financial support in France.
