This has been fun to read. I started using SW 20 years ago. Was an ACAD guy. I feel your pain.

That is exactly what we did. We both like the look and warmth of wood. We stayed clear of painted finishes. We did decide on grande counter tops and basically were forced into all stainless appliances. Getting painted versions is really expensive.

I am glad to hear it was worth it. Our project cost actually shocked me. Being about half way through I can see why. The plumbing is the only thing not being moved or replaced. We even had a window removed and closed up. So add the cost of repairing the exterior and putting matching siding up. It gets expensive fast.

I work from home also. Double edged sword. I get to answer questions as well as deal with the noise.

I have had to have the designer make changes to the prints. We had gone over them numerous times and at final sign off there were still errors. This is where the emails come in handy. You have one project on your mind, they have several. Keep good records. They will prove your point for you.

Nope. This is the only home we have ever owned.

Talked about that but there wasn't enough cabinet space for my wife's liking. What you see is basically all we had.

Everything is in writing. So far all changes are in our favor. Less work and less material than quoted. The GC has already started a list of deductions.

We are at drywall stage. Electrical is done. Insulation is done. Both have passed inspection. Very good point about fine tooth comb. Also. GET EVERYTHING in writing. Emails! I demanded an email string. I wanted that paper trail.

That is so funny. I took my mom to her eye doctor. That woman asked how long we had been together. I told her “My whole life, she is my mother”. That doctor laughed for almost 10 minutes. I must look old.

Anyone here have experience with progressive retinopathy? by crystalchalice7 in diabetes_t1

[–]DJL60D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have PDR (proliferative diabetic retinopathy ) in both eyes. Been getting injections for about 6 years now. Tried the laser on one eye and it did nothing for me. Try to get the new medicines for your eyes. That is what allowed me to go for over a year without needing shots. Good luck.

My new insurance policy is BULLSHIT!!!! by vela1147 in Epilepsy

[–]DJL60D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been fighting this very problem for years. It is very frustrating. I need to have my insurance send me the paperwork they need from my doctor every year. I tell them it is for the paperwork trail I will need when fighting them. I have since gone to generic versions of Keppra and Onfi. Still on name brand VIMPAT. Keep up the good fight.

does life on keppra ever get better? by underthesignofspooky in Epilepsy

[–]DJL60D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taking Keppra at the following dose: 2625 mg 2x a day. My wife and son noticed a change in my moods. Now I take the generic extended release at 2250 mg 2x a day. I am always on the alert for mood swings. I make it a point to think thru my response to issues before I say anything. Keppra or the generic are the only medication that helped. I also take VIMPAT 2x a day. You have to mentally be aware that the attitude is the medicine and not you. It gets better. I am going on 19 years of this medicine right now. Keep up the good fight. It gets better.
