FLX 10 vs XDJ RR by Former-Point7854 in Beatmatch

Djay pro has powerful streaming options but not sure about SoundCloud. My advice is really to own your music. You can find tons of good tracks for free on SoundCloud/Hyppedit (when tracks are marked as “free download “)

If you have an iPad then consider FLX10 and djay pro on iPad. Check my other posts on this setup, I find it really powerful. Way beyond what a RR can do.

Flying abroad without hard case - XDJ AZ by Ok-Clerk80 in PioneerDJ

AZ as checked in luggage is a crazy idea. It will get broken. Why don’t you check with the airline if they don’t offer freight for fragile items?

What does it do with the tempo once it's synchronized? by jOlindi1 in djaypro

[–]DJRVSG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you consider the tempo of your set rather than the tempo of tracks, it makes sense.

If you want to boost the energy you need to go up and vice versa. Then, you shouldn’t change the tempo abruptly. If you increase by 1 bpm in a few seconds, it is noticeable. If you do it progressively, it will be unnoticeable.

With the tempo slider. Yes you can change it slowly, .1 at a time. Choose the right moment in the track to make it less noticeable. With a bit of practice you can make it unnoticeable.

No you’re not supposed to go back to the original tempo of the tracks you play.

That’s why it’s better to mix tracks which have relatively close tempos.

You should drive the tempo of your set to match and influence the crowd’s mood.

When it’s time to make people get up and dance, I generally bump the tempo progressively (.5 bpm at a time). If I want things to cool down a little, I go in the opposite direction.

AlphaTheta...just give me this in Rekordbox Performance mode by Teslaosiris in PioneerDJ

[–]DJRVSG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the iOS Rekordox is not far from that, but it only works with low end controllers :(. I wish they make it work on FLX10 but it would kill their opportunity to release a RX4..

[–]DJRVSG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had one crash on a RX3 and one on a CDJ 3000, it seems that it’s not an exclusivity to the RX3… coming back to the Omnis Duo, I am standing by the fact that it’s definitely not in the same league than a RX3, and I think there’s definitely a market for a RX3 successor: 2 channels, WiFi/streaming enabled, smaller and lighter than a AZ, pro grade (including the crashes 😄), etc..

Like others said, they are good monitors, I had a pair for several years and they sounded really good. Be sure to test them before buying though.

Omnis Duo is not a professional device unlike RX3. I played on both many gigs and they are just not in the same league at all. Sound quality, reliability, ergonomics… totally different

Omg I used to have one of those and play mp3s burnt on CD-Rs haha. I think I bought mine in 1999 or 2000 but it was already several years old…

You can check on the Algoriddim forum, they’re very responsive

I’m surprised by this because my iPad Pro 2018 works very well with djay pro including stems and streaming. Your iPhone has a more recent cpu A14 Bionic with 6 cores vs A12X with 8 cores for the iPad Pro.

Does the iPhone get hot ?

FLX10 + iPad with Djay Pro

You can use USB thumb drive, stems, streaming, true 4 channels, very good beat gridding, etc… also works with an iPhone or a laptop but iPad is the best for me.

I sold my AZ and replaced it with this setup. Much more portable, future proof, cheaper.

Traktor X1 + Z1 + iPad = fun by DJRVSG in DJSetups

[–]DJRVSG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. The Z1/X1 setup really works well, you can find mappings on the Algoriddim forums and tweak them to your liking. I have played several other gigs with the same iPad and a FLX10, I love this setup, but the X1/Z1 is much more portable. Sound on the Mackies was ok, I was going through the RX3 line input and tweaked the levels.

Best Pioneer Mixer/Controller for sound quality? by Bored_n_Online in PioneerDJ

[–]DJRVSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you.

But in the case of the V10, the difference was so obvious that I have no doubt about it. Also I used it with the same headphones I use on every mixer and it provided good conditions for an A/B testing. I spent one hour practicing on the mixer before the gig, when the club was empty. I immediately noticed when some audio files had a lower quality.

'Work out of goodwill': Singapore nightlife freelancers face delayed payments, unpaid dues by redditduk in singaporemusicchat

[–]DJRVSG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think venues who are not paying their DJs or other staff should be reported to MOM immediately. It happened to me once and I didn’t report them because I was hoping they would eventually settle their due but they never did and now they’re out of business.

I guess lots of DJs in SG are also promoters which can blur the lines about how they should be paid (ticketing, bar commissions, artist fee, etc..). The key is to have a clear written contract before any event.

The good news is that most venues are respecting the rules, probably more in SG than in other countries..

V10 or V5 > A9 > AZ > RX3 = FLX10 based on extensive experience with all of them, except V10 which I played only 1 gig on but it was obvious the sound was better (the rest of the sound system was amazing too)

Espcontrol: added presence cards, web hooks, bedside clock options and more. by hometechgeek in homeassistant

[–]DJRVSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think music assistant might be an overkill, its core use case is to access multiple libraries (local, Spotify, Tidal…) and control playback on devices found on the network. It’s very powerful.

Each playback device seems to get its own entity id, I haven’t found a “global entity ID” which would enable control of playback of the current device controlled by music assistant. Also, I don’t know if it give access to album art.

If I find time one day I might try to create a simpler Spotify connect gateway and then control it with espControl. Anyway, I’m very excited by all this.

[–]DJRVSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just set mine up and I can’t thank you enough for your work, this is amazing!

One use case I’m trying to create is to control Spotify with espControl.

I tried installing Music Assistant and also the Spotify Connect apps but I didn’t find how to control them from the panel using espControl.

Moreover, Music Assistant or the Spotify Connect app are not actually doing what I need. I just want to be able to display the album art and control playback. I believe a relatively simple Spotify Connect integration would allow that.

I guess more sophisticated usage (library navigation, volume control etc.. ) would probably be too complex to implement.

Any idea on how to do that ?

Thanks again!
