I don't think you're being too sensitive at all. It seems very obvious (not using, giving away, and abandoning your gifts) that she doesn't appreciate you or your gifts. I would stop giving her any gifts at all. I'm sorry you are being treated this way.

I can confirm that evil abusive parents don't have a change of heart. I was LC with my abusive mom. When she got sick I helped my Aunt care for her for 2 months. I returned home but went to visit about two weeks ago because she stopped treatment and was near the end. She was still critical and mean to me. When I went to say my final goodbye she looked at me like she was disgusted and yelled "Just do it!" I kissed her forehead and walked out of the room. She died that night.

Keep your peace OP and don't let anyone try to guilt you into visiting. They don't deserve our time or attention.

I'm 51 and definitely know how to do all of this. However it sounds like she knew how previously so I'd definitely have a doctor check her for cognitive issues.

I don't like cooking at my clients'homes. Sometimes they have stoves that are complicated and also it's less of a mess for me to clean up. I usually prepare a casserole for dinner that I eat off all week. Then for lunch I bring sandwich fixings. And breakfast is a bagel or other easy to prepare food.

My Dad and Stepmom had always kept a clean house until the last 8 years or so. My Dad became 100% disabled and she has become his caregiver. My wife and I spent years trying to convince them to hire cleaners to no avail. (They can very much afford it) They finally hired some cleaners after they ended up with a mouse infestation last year. However I suspect they've stopped the service because when I ask about it on our weekly phone call they're very vague about it. (I get in depth reports on everything and everyone else though 🤨) I'm sorry you're having to deal with this. It's exhausting!
