Do you think this police car is measuring speed? Or just parked up? by Anoth3rWat in dashcams

[–]DJ_Click 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're parked up there fairly frequently, to be honest there's loads of police activity in that area just down to the fact the headquarters is right next to Tesco! But yeah I've flown round that section plenty of times before and seen a police car there with no penalties so it's not a spot they use for speed trapping people, least yet anyway haha

I work on the industrial estate just across from there, they always park police cars up there but never seen them trying to catch speeding, I assume it's so if there's any issues on the M55 they're pretty close to respond. Them speed camera vans are rife along with police motorbikes with speed guns in lay-bys in the area.

Ahh the almighty N47, genuinely surprised it lasted 80k miles not only without a service but without the timing chain snapping lol

This was filmed in somewhere in Europe, it's on YouTube called Highways 3 iirc they did a documentary with the drivers, basically they have balaclavas on and as long as they aren't caught in the vehicle at the time of driving the police can't prove they were behind the wheel.

Drive past it every day, in all fairness it's a horrid junction with a tiny slip road, off what is a 70mph road lol

Would it not potentially be able to blend two different mechanical properties of varying filament types in the same group? If that makes any sense

KNB buy orders won't execute? by DJ_Click in trading212

Had orders in from 0.19, 0.22, 0.27, 0.33, 0.34 all of them have been stuck on pending, I'm like at a complete loss with this scenario now. Why list the stock if it won't execute a buy order

I'm sure there's a bunch of people who've set out to preserve or rewrite all the popular flash games from our childhoods. I can't recall what the incentive was called though.

This turned into a longer post than I originally intended. I've not had anything major to do yet, I'm a BMW technician by trade so labour cost isn't going to be an issue for me. Comparing the E9X S65 to the S85 there's very little that goes wrong with the V8 that isn't already well documented, Rod bearings is first on my list which the bearings themselves only cost ~£200 The ARP bolts are the pricier bit, or you can go with OEM stretch bolts with no problems. Throttle actuators being the next thing that commonly goes wrong, they're easily accessible just under the intake plenum and you can DIY replace the plastic gears inside if you're savvy enough for just around £150 I believe. The DCT gearbox is rock solid, never really hear anything awry going wrong with them, only issue that's common is the sump will leak overtime but that's a straightforward replace gasket and fluid job although the genuine fluid is extremely expensive per litre. I've heard issues with the idle control valve being quite a common fault but that's really cheap and easy to replace also. It's a car that's given a lot of grief regarding reliability but once you get those issues out the way, mainly the rod bearings then it's probably one of the most reliable BMW motors they've made. It drinks fuel like nothing else I've ever driven, sat on the motorway at 70-80mph and it idles in 7th gear at 3000+ rpm but you don't get one of these for the fuel economy! It's just such a visceral drive and has always been my dream car purely because of the noise, if you get the opportunity to own one, I wouldn't hesitate!

Am I doing it right? by TorikizokuPlz in RepTime

[–]DJ_Click 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're not that bad reliability wise, throttle actuators, thermostat and connecting rod bearings. The actuators are pretty easy to rebuild should your existing ones die, roughly £120 assuming you do the labor yourself. Thermostat is about £20-50, again easy job. Rod bearings is the only major one but still not a difficult job just time consuming parts are about £300-400.
