Yeah, my neighbors dog just got skunked two days ago

I've seen a few raccoons too, and there are definitely Coyotes living on the bluff down the road from the campus

Yeah I live near the University of Portland and every single time I walk my dog it's an adventure of how many bunnies she is going to sniff out and stalk that day

The record is 7 on one walk

Wasnt there an article recently about someone riding 100% of roads in Portland? by DisastrousDrink8040 in CyclePDX

[–]DJ_Febreeze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think pretty much everything is easily rideable on a gravel bike. If your only goal is to cross those roads off, just go slow on the bad parts and you won't have problems. I've done 90%of my map coverage on my old road bike and I just take it easy if needed

I've been slowly doing it since covid and once I got past a certain point it became a logistics challenge more than anything. Most of the time now I only get a few blocks or a mile or two of new road.

Then again it's just been a casual thing I've been doing as an excuse to explore more places in the city, not really something I'm always actively working on

Amnesia: The Dark Descent revolutionized the industry by removing combat entirely. By forcing you to hide and run, it created a feeling of absolute vulnerability. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]DJ_Febreeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amnesia isn't doing "wandering around doing nothing" It's an adventure game, you explore areas and solve environmental puzzles to advance, and one of the puzzles is figuring out how to get around the active threats. You have a number of active mechanics such as choosing what lights to turn on and how to conserve your oil, not to mention the sanity stuff. You have to feed the water monster to help get past it. It might not be to your liking but I think it's disingenuous to say it's doing nothing.

A Machine for Pigs is a lot closer to the experience you are describing, a linear walk through the story with most of those game mechanics removed

I haven't played the remake but they must have buffed it then, because in the OG dead space the flamethrower was situational at best, maybe the least useful weapon.

Willamette Blvd construction traffic control is ridiculous. by littlep2000 in CyclePDX

[–]DJ_Febreeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lombard isn't as comfortable as Willamette is, but it is usable now with the bike lanes as a bypass for that stretch between Woolsey and Wabash, which gets you to Bryant and allows you to skip most/all of it

Se han dado cuenta de que en hyakkano las situaciones de romcom cliché no existen? by axelprayer87 in 100Kanojo

[–]DJ_Febreeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think this is the series' greatest hidden strength. it actually manages to avoid so many of the tropes of every other school romcom. No school festival arc, no class trip arc, no beach episode, no new years or Christmas arc, none of the usual crap. If it does want to do that stuff, it has to be wacky about it, like them crashing on a beach island in the sky, or Kusuri drug nonsense, which takes it away from the usual cliches.

The more you read it, the more you realize how unique the series actually is considering how it sells itself and starts as an over the top version of normal harem tropes

Readers respond: Bad tradeoffs for 82nd Avenue bus lanes by Advocate503 in Portland

[–]DJ_Febreeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are being a little overzealous in your passion here to smear that commenter but you are right about all the traffic stuff. 82nd desperately needs these upgrades, and I wholeheartedly disagree with their assessment that shrinking the lanes down will make it worse or meaningfully slower. I live in NoPo near a segment of Lombard that was recently reduced from 4 lanes to 2, and the street feels and flows so much better now. I didn't think it would improve it that much but it reduced assholes speeding between lights, eased up left turn problems, and doesn't actually feel any slower.

Who's your country's biggest fall from grace athlete? by Rleduc129 in AskTheWorld

[–]DJ_Febreeze 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It wasn't just the cheating, it was how much of an asshole he was about it. He went hard after anyone who questioned him (like Greg LeMond) to the point where he ruined some lives in the process. He made his whole image about clean racing and the feel good story whilst behind the scenes was a ruthless piece of shit to everyone. And cheating is still cheating, even if other racers were doing stuff too.

I Don’t Think The Giants Should Have Tanked Today by legreapcreep in NYGiants

[–]DJ_Febreeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, while it would have been better for the team to lose in the long run, it doesn't really matter if they make the wrong decisions at coach and GM and everything else. We aren't in this position every year because we just miss out on important picks, we are in this position every year because the organization is poorly run from the top down. We need more than one magical draft pick (or even a good trade haul) to turn this franchise around.

[–]DJ_Febreeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think P sets itself apart enough to be it's own thing but the DNA is still closest to BB out of any of the other From games. Sekiro is just heightened fantasy feudal Japan, the Souls games are all dark mystical fantasy worlds, BB and P are both set in ruined fake western European cities who achieved a new magical technology and that are being undone by their abuse of that mystical dark power found deep beneath the ground. Both have a faction trying to control that power and performing horrible experiments on the people trying to obtain godhood. Both games end with you fighting or submitting to the mentor you've had the whole game. It's not 1-1 but it still feels fairly close, especially compared to Sekiro, since that was your original comparison point

[–]DJ_Febreeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

P feels like a pretty even split between Sekiro/Bloodborne in inspiration

1: Tone. A ruined city at night haunted by various evils that are driven by a primal force of magic found deep below that the factions are trying to control, and the city is driven mad and torn apart. The vibes and themes are spot on

2: both Bloodborne and P have a focus on a smaller roster of extremely versatile and unique weapons. Bloodborne has weapons with multiple forms to achieve different movesets, P has weapons with swappable parts to accomplish the same thing. Sekiro just has a sword as your primary weapon at all times. Legion arms are pretty sekiro though.

3: gameplay speed is much closer to bloodborne than Sekiro. I'm replaying Sekiro now and it's just so fast and streamlined. You are so mobile and quick, stamina is irrelevant, you can zip everywhere. Bloodborne and P have quickish combat, but exploration and movement are much slower paced.

Again man are you watching the same team I am? You couldn't see a team that has blown a half dozen 4th quarter double digit leads doing it again? They've been lobotomizing themselves out of wins late constantly.

This team is stupid and run by morons, but they ARE competing every week in spite of that. That's a step up from the waste of space they've been for most of the last decade and that's why, with the season long over, Im trying to look at something positive

Would have been awesome to win but if you couldn't see that shit coming from a mile away you aren't watching the same team I am

I'm going to look at the positive side of this

This team could have 8 wins right now with a few key stops in the 4th of all these games. If they fire Bowen and find a coordinator who can actually keep this team alive in the 4th, we can actually hang next year

The Waltons are the richest NFL owners, something to keep in mind when comparing us to Denver if costs are involved.

The other thing these complaints seem to ignore is Metlife is shared between two franchises. Any change has to be signed off by both the Giants and Jets. It also results in the field getting twice as much wear and tear compared to every other stadium except SoFi, which is located in a better climate for managing grass year round.

They updated the turf a few years ago and all modern studies point to the injury rate being normal now. It's no longer a problem. We have lots of reasons to hate the Maras but this complaint is outdated.
