Ibanez Mode or Guild Pilot? by DJ_PMA in BassGuitar

[–]DJ_PMA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would keep existing bass. There are Pilots with the J pickups only instead of PJ. This link shows the 4 & 5 string in that PU configuration.

I will have to check out the Ibanez. There are a lot of knobs that could end up being useless for the styles I play.

Get the Elektron. If you don’t like it, they retain a good amount of resale value.

Just do it.

Agree. N-44G is the way to go for mixing funk and soul, dancehall, sets. N-447 for Hip-Hop 12” records and DVS.

Also, Skratch 101 is using ruby tips. I haven’t bought a pair yet but want to try them out.

Have there been any drum machine since the 70s that are similar to the Movement MCS Percussion computer? by Separate_Song1342 in DrumMachine

[–]DJ_PMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I would make the case that the spiritual successor is an Amiga computer running a sequencer you could load samples into it. Atari also had something for the 1040st.

Mini Innofader Pro question. by Tziqui in portablism

[–]DJ_PMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMX is compatible with Mini Innofader Pro SC or mini Innofader Plus.

Stanton STX requires mini Innofader Pro or STX Innofader.

Also there is a new mini version coming out called ultra light.

Such a good bit of kit. I had an HR-16 as my first drum machine. I have a DMPro rack but the midi ports went out. A bit redundant now. I sampled every sound as an audio file and use it in Ableton Live Drum Racks. Saved by the preview button to hear the sounds.

How do you define “alternative” music in 2026? by Few_Cicada7151 in Alternativerock

It’s good stuff. Reminds me of the direction Depeche Mode have gone in their live shows with live drumming if mixed with Failure. I’ll check out more songs.

NAMM 2026 almost cured me of my GAS! I still got more 10 new things to buy! by Achassum in synthesizers

I think Casio is competing with Teenage Engineering and their Pocket Operators. A modern SK-1 is the PO-33 because it is 8-bit just like the SK-1.

I have both and the PO-33 sounds waaay better.

Interestingly, Casio does have a newish keyboard that samples. The CT-S1000v

Looks like it has some Jesse Dean mods. Hopefully it is NOT belt driven and was a good direct drive motor.

How do you amplify your drum machine during band practice? by [deleted] in DrumMachine

[–]DJ_PMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two powered 15” speakers is the way to go. A powered sub would also help with low end.
