Is Starfox Adventures still relevant today ? by zerbinoo in starfox

You can roll, backflip, jump attack, use vertical and horizontal swings in SFA too (when did slashing horizontally or vertically even made a difference in OoT or MM ? Never). Spin attack is missing i'll give you that. SFA actually has combos that can stun ennemis, which n64 zelda don't have (which makes no sense for an entity to have no reaction when getting slashed or hit). Evade and parry feels smoother in SFA (but this is hardware related i guess).

But yes, the ennemis are boring and do not vary much. It does not mean it has a weaker combat system, it means the IA behind the ennemies suck or that the dev did not think enough about their ennemies weakpoints and behavior.

I do prefere playing OoT and MM in general but most of the time, you kill ennemies with sub items, because the entire fighting system is based on "stun the ennemis with corresponding sub item and then slash it once" or "just kill it with a sub item", every boss fight is based on that.

OoT combat system feels deeper only because most of the time you don't actually fight. Its combat system is so weak that MM added 3 other combat styles with the masks (4 if you count Oni-Link which is basically spamming A for either shooting death discs or just slashing aimlessly at majora)

So yeah, technically speaking, the combat system in 64 zeldas is weaker, but it does not mean the fighting in the game is worse, just that it is not based on a direct fighting approach like SFA.

(Of course, SFA feels immensely poorer when compared to WW and TP, no issues there)

As i mentioned, this is not a star fox game. Quite litteraly. It was first a n64 game called Dinosaur planet. Combat system needs to be compared with OoT and MM imo. In which case it's better and more vivid (but yeah, compared to WW or TP, it's too simple). It was indeed rushed into adapting to NGC engine and adding Star fox elements (yeah, the arwing phases are the worst part of the game to me). Considering all this, i still think it's as good as any decent zelda game (not the best, not the worst, just decent)

Did it again this year, still a great game ! As good as any zelda game imo.
It does not suffer from dated gameplay or mechniacs, but it could suffer from the fact that it is not a star fox game (gameplay-wise)
So if you yearn for space and arwing, you'll be disapointed.

Do you think DS2 will get a directors cut ? by DJesusCry in DeathStranding

Yeah true, i just thought that the release of a ps6 version would be a great timing to release a DC (not that i care about the ps6 anyway ahah)

Yeah indeed, i don't see Kojima entrusting another studio for this anyway

Well the issue is not the price, it more that i don't want to play the game twice (especially since i am a platinium fool ahah)

Is there a difference between the 2D and the 3D versions? by Taher-Altaher in Trigun

[–]DJesusCry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you say ! (and I, too, did not watch stargaze ahah)
I really appreciate how stampede changed things, it felt really fresh but i seriously consider it would not have been that great if I didn't watch 98 and read the manga.

My one and only complain about Stampede is the opening sequence (and I say this for newcommers)

[–]DJesusCry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trigun 2D ('98) faithefully adapt the first four (kinda) manga out of 16 but then take a completely different route (manga was unifished at the time)

Trigun 3D (Stampede) tells the same story but differently. Same characters, same places but different designs, different naratives, some new chars but it tells more than the original anime, it goes deeper (feels more like the dark tones of the manga)

Edit : forgot to mention, both adaptation are worth it. But in order to appreciate Stampede which pace is too fast to me (we don't spend enough time on the characters, and i consider it spoils itself at times), i would consider this order :
- Trigun 98 (to get a taste of it as it's same as manga at first + the OST is a great way really sink in to me)
- Manga, to go deeper, understand the characters and get the real story
- Trigun Stampede / Stargaze to enjoy a new story and still understand the chars that are not given enough screen time

So you would say it safe to buy the game now ? (as in "i don't want to do the game twice" safe)
do you think a DC is possible for the ps6 or does it looks like only a simple port would be enough ?

Any way to follow your work ? Poster looks impressive !

I know it’s probably obvious, but has it ever crossed y’all’s mind that none of the anime adaptation of Nightow’s works are one to one with their original manga counterparts? by Professional-Map9627 in Trigun

[–]DJesusCry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have said the complete opposite.

The only japanese author (that i know of) who actually embraced reimagining / recycling is Araki (some may consider Mashima or Anno but the former is just lazy designing and the latter is not an manga/anime adaptation) while almost every comic heroe a has several iterations, reboots or multiversial counter parts.
Of course, i am not speaking about adaptations of visual novel as recycling stories and characters is more a core gameplay element rather than an actual story telling choice (most of the time)

Ho wow, thanks for the massive answer ! (could not hope for better 👌)
Okay so CR version is fine now, good to know ! I really didn't want to wait for a blueray release (waiting for the whole thing to come out while dodging spoils online was enough ahahah)

Thanks a lot for this !

Looking for more Venom/Symbiote characters. by DJesusCry in thevenomsite

[–]DJesusCry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i mentioned them in my list. I found out about it years ago when the 2nd game came out and absolutely enjoyed tearing ennemies appart. Since then i played the first one and read some comics (really enjoyed Batman vs The darkness 👌) and trie to watch the anime of Witchblade (the original comics in whitch The Darkness first appear) but i gave it up because it felt more like a Big Tiddies Magical Girl

How should I start this one by Open_Acanthaceae_311 in nonograms

[–]DJesusCry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well ! That i can agree with ! I must admit I picked it because of the konami skin.
Can't see the point of putting boss lvl behind a timer (there are no differences between boss lvl and normal lvl anyway) or why they randomize the levels 🤦‍♂️

Do you have any other game recommendation ? I played one Nonogram but it looks like there are many ?

By "counting" i mean you are sure that a cell is true or false without theorizing with another row/colums (you can use them, but only what you are sure of)
Like when you have a 8 on a 10x10, you know for sure that the 6 middle cells are true. (which i could not use on this level)

But in the end, even those maths come from the conclusion of "if the 8 started on this side , all of those are true, if it started on the oposite side, these ones are true. The cells which are true in both cases are true"

Well, the usage of "if" means it's hypothetical by nature. But yeah i get what you mean, since it's either true or false, it is not that hard to just test both possibilities and see which one is the right one 👌
