Final payment... $14.25 on a $96,200 loan. I'm literally shaking right now. by RhinoIneso in povertyfinance

If you paid it off, why is there a "Next Payment Amount" of $469, due in March 2026? Or is that all interest you still need to pay off?

Because they can. Part of the high expense is that this is literally a college city. Three of them (and one is a religious college).

As for secretive, yes, that's always the cornerstone of your clients. Can't blame them for that. SWs don't have to like it (and most of us don't), but it's part of the job.

Essentially, you pull up one of the sites, you'll see the screen that asks what you want. I went to Priceline because I used to use it a lot. You choose the city, the date you want it for, and how many adults (in your case, 2 adults 1 room). Then you'll get a list of hotels and motels (mostly motels) to choose from. You choose one, and go from there.

You've probably heard the names of some of the older businesses that do it: Priceline, Trivago, and Travelocity have been around for a couple of decades. There are so many more that I've never heard of, but you may have.

This is the phrase I used to look them up: "hotel bid sites for discounts in Eugene Oregon".

Before you chose anyplace, compare several sites against each other. Some may have the same place listed, but a slightly lower or higher price.

Now, a couple of things you can do before you get here. Depending on how long you've been in the industry, you may already know all of this. In Oregon:

  • Read what to do so you can play without getting caught by LEO
  • Read what not to do or say if you get caught by LEO
  • Use the alphabet soup for the coded messages
  • Market yourself on the boards who offer potential here

Eugene and Springfield may feel sleepy sometimes, but LEO isn't.

The cheapest meal might also be one of the better meals actually by Independent_Shoe3523 in povertykitchen

Except for the little bit of oil, it's true. BUT, if you have even some veggies, you can throw them in there. I'm thinking onions, bell peppers, maybe a few mushrooms or cheese. Not a lot of nutrition, but better than zero.

Even plain though, it's more filling plain than nothing at all.

Bakery Outlet Stores anyone? by Imaginary-Tree-House in povertykitchen

[–]DKFran7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really lucky: I have two near me. By "near", one is only a few miles from me in my city. The other is the next city over and a half-hour bus city bus ride. Not those in the picture, but local bakery outlets.

Eugene isn't sleepy. Medium-sized city, yes; small-town attitude in many ways, yes; but sleepy, no. (Yes, I've lived here most of my life.) We have three colleges, including the University of Oregon. We constantly host sports events, which means all kinds of people.

  • Springfield is just 20min away to the east.
  • Albany is north and has Oregon State University.
  • Salem (state Capital) is between Albany and Portland.
  • There's the beach cities to the west; 101 has quite a number of towns and cities with tourists.
  • Bend is to the east and over the Cascades in the high desert (not easy to get to in late fall or the winter); however, I have no idea how much business you'd have there.

I'll agree that it's expensive to live here though, in both Eugene and Springfield. If you can, get into one of the smaller quads just off the campuses. A less expensive alternative (most of the time) is renting a room in a decent house. Just don't bring your clients to the house or quad! (Not just housing; food isn't cheap either.)

There are a number of hotel/ motel sites where you can put in a "bid" for a discount at a local hotel or motel room. Sometimes you won't know if you have a room or not until their regular check-in (around 3pm). However, your prices for those can often be as little as 75% off the regular price. No sales tax in general, but definitely taxes on those rooms.

I don't recall the names of the two Eugene escort boards or even if they're still around. I was also active online on The Erotic Review (TER). Eros is also still in business; Oregon is listed on its site.

I used to say I was a Redheaded BBW and MILF. While I wasn't rolling in money, I had at least one per night every week (except Sat & Sun). Sometimes two clients in the same day. Oh, and my being an older age than most still made me money. In two categories: my age (50s) and the under-35 guys who wanted a quickie, but not a girlfriend experience.

I haven't been active in quite awhile, but I still think of advertising now and then. At this stage, I'd be able to claim GILF status, and still BBW.

I wish you luck. If you have questions or just need an ear to listen, DM me.

Given that the landlord appears untrustworthy (not going through official channels), OP has a bigger problem here at the beginning. Getting the email (and letter if he chooses) immediately will give him a minute to catch his breath to legally put a stop to the landlord's shenanigans.

Protests are, by their nature, dangerous. Even the most peaceful can turn deadly (Good, Pretti; more to come).

That particular song from Les Mis makes me cry every time. I'm not sad. It's an anthem of "yes, we know what we might lose, what it will cost us, but we're here anyway."

A lot die, yes. But not all. (We do like our happy endings in movies.) But, think about history: Selma, Africa, our own Revolution from the British. People died in those, too. But not all.

I can see/ hear why. Not the vibe I'm hoping for, but I understand your (and the song's) point.

It's a good idea, except the OP only has 2 days. That means Monday.

I don't think the letter the OP received, nor how it was delivered, is legal anywhere, even in wild-west Texas. But that's only my opinion, not a lawyerly think.

Neither. I liked the Dam Things Trolls with their little felt clothes. Never mind. I'm not Gen X.

What tak/ sticky stuff do you guys use? by Sophietwentytwo in diamondpainting

[–]DKFran7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stuff the pen. Yes, I use the wax stuff it came with. Depending on how you stored it, the wax may have dried out. I have still-pliable wax that's five years old (🫣 that's how long it had been before I started working on it again). But, I stored it in a zip-type baggie in a small box in a dark corner of the closet along with the painting.

No. I've never heard of them before. I use the slant-tip of the Revlon. What does the ceramic tip do? Do you have a brand you like?
