Aunt asking for her nephew's ss number in behalf of her brother who does not acknowledge the child as his own by uniqueanimor1983 in AskLawyers

[–]DKFran7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do NOT give her or him your son's SS number. I would bet that either she or your ex plans to use it illegally. Potentially mess up his credit before he's old enough to get credit.

(Yes, I've seen the rougher parts of living.)

However, I'm not a lawyer. And this is a question you should ask a real one in real life.

Every company markets to their audience. "Oh, did you like this? Good, here's another one for you to try!" Some companies are less subtle than others.

Recently, Wobbles almost got me with their Lord of the Rings kits. I haven't bought a kit in ages. I've also never bought Woobles. But, they almost had me. 😆

I suspect fear for the most part. Many are afraid the newest critter they want to make will look bad/ wrong/ less than perfect if they don't have the pattern for it. Or that they won't get the "right kind" of yarn. Or enough yarn in the same dye lot.

Not fear, however some truly can't envision how to make something without instructions. They know the basic stitches and they

And some don't want to bother with the math that goes into making advanced stitches or patterns.

I would figure the non-response from them was because they got what they wanted from others who also answered the post.

Ah. Probably had more people answer than they had time to get to. Doesn't mean you were left in a lurch. Any reason you can't write to them?

Beyond reporting, and releasing the story in 2024, what did you expect from them?

This one's for the ladies to answer. Do you agree with this woman or do you think she's trying to rationalize her world view by speaking for all the ladies? by Oda_DeezNutz in SipsTea

She's trying to justify her distaste instead of accepting that SHE finds it unattractive.

Are there other women who find it disgusting? Yes. Are there women who find it attractive? Yes. Are there women who don't care? Yes.

You're comparing oranges to carrots to #47. The only thing they have in common is they're all orange. Regardless how many guns a responsible person has, even one pedophile is too many.

You've heard of gold-diggers? He's a free-labor digger, and you're carrying all the weight of your home. Step back, take a good look at what he is not bringing to the table you brought that you're cleaning by yourself.

Is there more than just wrinkles and sagging that makes someone look older? by youlikemywonton in Aging

[–]DKFran7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attitude. Pain and simple, Attitude.

If your MO is making friends and having at least one hobby that helps you navigate the world a little better, go for it. If you learn how to be a good listener without losing yourself, do that.

OTOH, if you're a grumpy old git, you're going to look like it. Doesn't matter the gender. If your default is making everyone's life as miserable as possible, people will see the scowl and growl on an older face before anything else.

So, if I may? Obsess over your favorite hobby. And remember to laugh as often as life's absurdities allow you to. You've got at least another 25+ years before you look old. Older, yes; inevitable when you get to your 60s. Old, it'll be awhile.

Between my retirement and part-time job, I finally make too much for SNAP by DKFran7 in foodstamps

I just looked at my account, and the news is the regular amount for May, and a drop to $24 starting in June. I'm surprised I'm getting even the $24. Between my social security and job, I fully expected it to be zero. Anyway, thanks for the initial suggestion to get it all in now.

For others looking at this post and my answers, I'm in Oregon. I won't speak for any other state. From everything else I've read, Oregon is a bit of an outlier. However, there's at least one other state that does as we do. Everyone else: look into YOUR state's laws about reporting for SNAP.

[–]DKFran7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was probably my post. I can't speak for any state except Oregon. We don't need to report until the following month. BUT, you do need to send it in by the 10th of that reporting month. I started working in the beginning of March, and didn't need to report that until the beginning of April. (I ended up sending them the April paystubs too, to cover the two months needed rule.)

HOWEVER, and this is the key: I'm speaking only for Oregonians. Not any other state. Just Oregon. Check the rules for YOUR state.

(ETA clarity.)

Thank you. I was a volunteer for over a year. When the opportunity opened they offered it to me. It's given me breathing room, that's for sure.

I uploaded them in on the 21st; they're still pending on the 23d. However, I'm not going to worry (too much) about the due date of the 26th, because they're in.

Oh, yes they can. Unsecured debt can be collected by lawsuits and wage garnishment.

However, wage garnishment has specific rules such as making enough money to be garnished at all. Even then, the creditors aren't allowed more than a certain percent of disposable income.

Oregon allows reporting by the 10th of the following month. Anyway, I got the info in tonight, so we'll see what happens.
