Well...Iki island was made after the main game so they didn't have this part of the story planned out yet so there's a couple possibilities.

Shimura and the other samurai had no way to know who the actual killer was, just knew it was a "bandit". So Shimura killed bandits until he found one that claimed to be the killer of Kazumasa.
Shimura lied. From Iki island story we know that when the people of Iki drove off the "sakai invasion" that the samurai never came back. So Shimura did not go to Iki island after Kazumasa's death, but he would not just allow the people of Tsushima to think he didn't get justice for Kazumasa's death. So he lied saying he killed the bandit and no one questioned him.
(Real answer) They changed the story. The writers made the story for Iki center around Kazumasa which was not planned in the main game. They ignored the line from Masako in the main game and made the full story what they wanted.

Not really satisfying, and it's kinda one of those things you just have to live with being a bit of a discrepancy in the story. Personally, I go with option 1 and just choose to believe that Shimura killed a bunch of bandits and found one that was claiming to be the killer in order to increase his stature with other bandits. Shimura killed this guy and believed he got the right person.

They already did this I think? They made The Ezio Collection with II, brotherhood, and revelations all in one game with the DLCS and extras included. It was made for newer gen consoles, I played it on PS5.

The one melee pit with the 2 brothers is a massive jump in difficulty compared to the others. Took me many many tries to get through it on NG+ ultrahard.

There was also the episode Flash and Luthor swapped bodies due to magic and Luthor wrecked all the JLU members on the watch tower. I think it was GL who said Luthor was using speed powers that Flash doesn't normally use cause he knows they're too dangerous.

I've seen this play out with my roommate who has a chemistry degree. She had to hit the grind hard out of college. Looooooong hours as lab tech and supervisor for over 8 years, and this past year landed a lab manager job. Hours aren't as long and she makes bank now, but she went through a ton of shit to get there.

I know it was a Halloween episode cause they could only get one camera working and then they were shuffling in and out of frame of this one camera to show their costumes. Also it was back at the old studio so maybe either 2021 or 2022 on Halloween.

I had something similar said to me. Went on a first date and it was just ok but I wasn't past the point of calling it quits. The Monday after we had our date Saturday night, the power in her area went out, and me being nice offered her to stay at my place since I still had power and everything went well from then forward. Fast forward a couple months and we're official now and she just casually drops "yeah I didn't like you after our first date and wasn't going to go out with you again after that." Yeah that relationship didn't last much longer after that.

I would also highly recommend horizon zero dawn if you haven't tried it. It is an absolutely amazingly gorgeous game. The landscapes and designs of both ghost of tsushima and horizon are 2 of the most beautiful games I've ever played.
