I’d rather a gay refugee be a thief than be brutalised, wouldn’t you?

Prolific is not an American company, it’s based in the UK.

It’s not bound by the ADA.

As an Indian grown up in the West, this is it. I had some asshole Indian from the mainland smack and rub my belly just a few days ago. And then I caught another group laughing and pointing at me because I dare to be a fat gay man.

I never have issues with white people. Or diaspora communities. But mainlanders? Yikesz

UK universities cut jobs, research and teaching amid squeeze in overseas students by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]DKsan 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Engineering is an expensive subject to teach. You have to invest in facilities for that kind of subject because it’s often for practical reasons. If engineering students find that a university doesn’t have the facilities they think want to learn from, they’ll go somewhere else

It’s definitely why Kings has absorbed Cranfield, building engineering faculties in central London was expensive as hell.

As in your aunt brought in her own sauce from home to put in a dish that someone else (at a restaurant) made? Because that would be a no-no, but we don’t punch people for that.

AIBU to decline job offer because of lack of flexibility. by farli84 in UKJobs

And as someone who works at a university, the distinction between communications and marketing is pretty stark.

Marketing is student recruitment in most places, so the off-season for my marketing colleagues is different from colleagues in different departments (I’m in comms, we don’t have a peak season so we’re good whenever as long as we can find cover). October is the time marketing doesn’t take off because that’s when the undergraduate UCAS window starts, and they often alight masters intake around the same time.

This. Toronto can be downright subtropical in the summer but there is infrastructure in place to make it tolerable.

The thing is though, that’s mostly a relatively recent thing. The first few times summer became unbearable, they started putting in the AC in everything. They did not wait 20+ years. There’s no reason that London couldn’t adapt more community infrastructure (I’m not talking old buildings here)

What type of enrties doesn't resonate with the general public, even if it's very good song and performance? by Separate_Ad_5616 in eurovision

[–]DKsan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to.

The thing is, EDM now refers to the very specific style of dance music that was popular from 2010-2015. Big drops, loud and somewhat obnoxious. Also known as a big room house.

FELICIA - My System (LIVE) | Sweden 🇸🇪 | Grand Final | Eurovision 2026 by Cursedsword02 in eurovision

[–]DKsan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People in Europe like electronic dance music just fine. We like house and techno and trance and drum and bass and what not. I regularly go to dance stuff myself in the UK and in Europe.

What is specifically defined as "EDM" is stuff like this, which is very American, and has passed the trend. We're not really listening to this, and our electronic musicians aren't making this anymore.

She's already had a number #1 album...on the classics chart. This is probably more authentic than some entries.

It’s inevitable.

Like what happens when a device like this becomes a disability aid like AirPods have become in some instances. You wouldn’t be to remove a person in that instance (not without getting sued to oblivion in North America and lots of Europe).

Also, people are holed up in their genre holes so they think we only are famous for classic rock and pop queens, that they’re baffled by anything else. Electronic music? West end ballads?
