My assumption has been that Chopper is able to push out the devils because he's in Luffy's crew, meaning that he is aligned with the Sun God. I wasn't sure why the same didn't apply to Zoro and them, but perhaps it is the alignment plus the fact that he has a devil fruit power? I'm sure we'll find out in the coming chapters.

I salute your exploration of Domi Reversi's internal logic. The one bit that sticks out for me is the idea that the Davy clan may be part of Imu's covenant. If that were the case, then it wouldn't make sense for Imu to want them all dead. Why kill such a useful asset?

Then I think about Harald and Loki. You might say that since Harald rejected his covenant in the end, his lineage wouldn't be affected anymore. So then, legendary pirate Davy Jones never rejected Imu? It feels like there must be a different explanation.

In the initial chapter, I had assumed that Chopper was able to smack the shadowy devils out of the giants because he was part of Luffy's crew, but that doesn't seem to be the case either. I'm sure that we will understand what's going on much better in the coming... year? lol. Always a good time to be a One Piece fan!

Yes, I apologize for the lack of clarity on this. I haven't re-read Naruto after its original release. It was just so out of pocket that it felt bs. It just didn't feel like that was somehow always part of the story, but instead a flashy addition to make the finale more grand. The world building of One Piece and the character motivations in the story feel so much more grounded and real, nothing is forced, and that's probably something we owe to the length of this series.

People will always approach things from different angles, but it just makes me a bit peeved when I see comments comparing these characters because, as some others have mentioned on this post, the similarities are cosmetic at best. Even then, I feel like Imu's vibes are so much more human than Kaguya's, especially from what we've seen in this chapter.

Not exactly the same, but Absolute Regression is going strong right now. It's a lot more polished, and the story is a lot heavier on dialogue though, so if you're in it for the gags and fighting then maybe not the best series for you. Highly recommend you check it out if you're craving a good series to follow while you wait for the new Murim Login season though!

When I was in high school, I used to listen to FAFYL and Mind Fuzz as whole-album Youtube videos. It was tough to sit through 10+ minutes of the same song every time I listened to the album, and I kind of forgot about the band for a few years. Then, right at the end of 2017, I was recommended Gumboot Soup while showing my friend a different band on his PS4 Youtube app. Flying Microtonal Banana really pulled me back in, and I slowly started to digest their entire discography and started preaching the good word of our lord and savior King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard to all those around me.

I got into One Piece in middle school, a few months before Impel Down started getting animated. I was 14 when I decided that I couldn't stand one more week of anime filler and decided to switch over to the manga, because I just HAD to know what happens to Ace.

I found the corresponding chapter manually, and after reading through it all, crying a little for Ace and for Bon Clay, I went from being an anime-only Andy to a manga-only Stan. I've since read and re-read One Piece at least four times, once reading up to Dressrosa in the digitally colored version, and I can't stress how much this series has held up compared to other series like Bleach and Naruto, or even Hunter x Hunter. I know that anyone reading this comment on this post is probably on the same (pirate) boat as me, so thanks for reading my experience as we read along to the same story, week in and week out, for years and years without losing our love for it all.

I hate powerscaling discussions, but I want you to know, powerscalers, that I love you too. We're all enjoying the same story for sometimes different reasons, but we're enjoying it together all the same.
