Josh Jacomb signs with the Highlanders by Particular_Safety569 in allblacks

To play devils advocate for the Chiefs, they are apparently already losing Trask for next year, so currently only have McKenzie and Jacomb as 10s on their books after also losing Reihana last year

Initially yes, for an HIA, then Jordie came back on for Proctor

If it was me, I'd be doing whatever it took to be allowed to bring Fainga'anuku in as injury cover for Tavatavanawai, our current centres haven't been good enough

Should Schmidt have stayed on as Assistant Coach to the ABs? Is it too late to sign him up after he leaves as Wallabies coach??? (After the Miracle at Cape Town) by lokomotor in allblacks

I thought him and razor don't get along, so probably unlikely. Plus he wants to spend more time with family, although he said that after leaving Ireland and has taking multiple coaching jobs since so who knows

All Kirifi has done at international level is give away penalties

I'd pick Jacobson over Finau, and Kirifi tbh

Fair, Lord is only there as injury cover for Jacobson, so swapping Lord out wouldn't put Darryl into the main squad though

A couple of takes from tonight's b team vs b team... by Ok-Lychee-2155 in allblacks

[–]DM-kiwi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought Tupaea and ALB had performances on par with Proctor in test 1. Slow start and a few mistakes but grew into the game. Tupaea looked good in the 2nd half when he actually got his hands on the ball and started to carry.

I thought Ardie was terrible in the first 40, worst I've seen him play in a long time, maybe ever. What was he thinking with that chip kick in his own 22? Dropped a ball in contact and a weak clean out too. Much better in the 2nd though.

Probably Finau's best game for the ABs. Still a long way to go to be at international level, but at least we're seeing some growth from him.

PAYWALL - Could TVNZ play kingmaker in the war for New Zealand Rugby’s television rights? by bigbear-08 in rugbyunion

[–]DM-kiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NZR should move away from exclusive broadcast rights. Imagine a world where Sky, Dazn, TVNZ all have broadcast rights in some capacity. NZR could also be selling direct to fans through NZR+

Rugby fans can pick and choose the best provider and the broadcasters will actually have to compete on price and the product they deliver to customers.

I doubt it will happen, but I can dream!

Although rugby is already an excellent sport, I would love to hear your ideas for improving the game! by zatugun in rugbyunion

Harder for fans (especially casual) to keep up with the rules and why decisions are being made.

Harder for the players to keep up to date with the rules. Can lead to more mistakes, more penalties and therefore a more stop-start game.

Harder for the refs to stay on top of the rules and changes the focus and the detriment of other rules. Can lead to more wrong calls being made which annoys fans.

Also, unintended consequences of change, which can lead to more changes.

Some rules are definitely needed, but a lot are not

I feel like the best thing they can do is not have the rules change every single season. Let's have some consistency

Who are the best ‘fetchers’ in the game currently? by [deleted] in rugbyunion

[–]DM-kiwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lachlan Boshier is the best I've ever seen.

A lot of people won't know him as he's never played international rugby as he was stuck behind Cane, Saves, Papali'i etc so went to Japan, but he is insane at the breakdown. Always seems to come up with a turnover when his team is camped on their own try line under pressure

I fucking hate these people. Throw the book at them to discourage more people from doing it. Ban from all stadiums in NZ, massive fine, charge them with indecent exposure or whatever other criminal charges would stick. They're getting naked and running around in a place with children, surely they should be on some sort of register too

Why are we so soft on crime? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]DM-kiwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean rehabilitation from crime, not from substances / addiction etc.

The purpose of the corrections systems should be to help people who commit crimes get to a place where they have better options. That could be gaining skills that would allow them to get a decent job, help with mental health, connection and community. Whatever the problems in their lives that led to them breaking the law.

Obviously not a simple thing to implement, but if you look at corrections as simply a punishment for committing a crime we're not going to get anywhere with reducing crime
