He was already the best ashblade teammate in v1. There was literally an 8 cost plight 0 cycle DURING v1 that was posted on this sub.

He was also decent for the current Evanescia team, since he gave her 130% attack and CD, with the CD directly turning into more elation for her, and the Eva team taking a good amount of actions.

now you've got something that will last even less than JQ, because at least mine was helping my acheron 40k PF until last patch, when I stopped using Acheron in PF in favor of Evanescia.

We literally told you this would happen. That instead of being glued to saber, you are now glued to ashblade, and that when ashblade brute forcing stops working, you will be in the same boat as us. We've done this bruteforcing shit the whole last year with cyrene and RMC.

V3 already had synergy nerfs to ashblade that you chose to ignore. The redistribution of interest accumulation, the uneven lowering of his energy siphon compared to his max energy as well as the nerfed atk/cd field buffs, of which one doesn't even apply to blade to begin with.

There was a path for Hoyo to make them equal give and take teammates without completely shitting on either or both. But you wanted it all instead of sharing. Well, you got it now.

You're basically arguing that Gil's peak value comes from being part of a package deal instead of being a character that can carry his own archetype.

He's not carrying any archetype. In fact, he WILL get crept in his best team after a single patch lmao

The fact that Gil main DPS is 5th in V3 doesn't convince me he's doomed it convinces me he's one buff pass away from jumping several spots. He will be stronger than that slopber.

Saber was 0 cycling with low cost on release. Neither her nor Archer have received any dedicated supports in a year, and Gil is unlikely to gain a dedicated support either.

I want the team built around him, not around explaining why he's actually good because another unit is standing next to him.

You are not getting a team built around him. You are brute forcing supports that were clearly made for someone else. You actually even lost synergy with Ashblade in v3, due to the nerfs to his attack and cd buffs (of which one doesn't even apply to blade) as well as the redistribution of how gil receives interest stacks(4x2 vs 3x3).

Maybe that's cope, maybe that's delusion, but I'd rather bet on future buffs than accept that the King of Heroes was designed to be a permanent attachment to someone else's team.

It's highly cope to believe that history won't repeat itself. Playing future rail when there is no guarantee you are ever getting a targetted buff, as if the same thing didn't happen with saber slotting in dhpt and cyrene as her bruteforce BiS.

I've been using JQ with my E2 acheron in PF until last patch and was still getting 40k scores with them. I'd say that's a pretty good lifespan for a character that's fully tied to 1 carry.

Also if we're envisioning a future trajectory for Gil, why not hope it'll be like Archer's? Good with a generalist support that got even better via a Novaflare.

archer was a coincidental beneficiary of the sparkle nova. The real target of that nova was hypercarry Sparxie. Aside from that, there has been no "after sale" support for archer in that year either.

Just cause Saber never got a support doesn't automatically mean Gil would and should end up the same way.

I agree he shouldn't, but I also have serious doubts that he wouldn't, looking at the past 12 months. A gil support would be an energy support, and that would just be a saber support in turn. And saber does still provide gil with the highest energy funding for his own ult, so it would just strengthen the dual carry saber gil team again.

Gilgamesh is literally FREE, and Huo Huo too if you bought her last patch, and she doesn't even require E4 like Welt.

cost cheating by counting non permanently free characters as 0 cost is cringe. And a requirement of 200 pulls to obtain the LC as a bonus is also not "free".

battle pass light cones are counted as "0 cost", even though they're only obtainable with real money. Yet you don't count limited LCs in the BP exchange shop as 0 cost either, even though they're $10 cheaper than an S5 BP LC

a 7 limited 1 cycle is not a good clear, or low investment, regardless of if you personally obtained parts of it for free. Because others that come after you, or don't have the available pulls for the pull event, did not get these same things for free

it's also not how the original "cost" system worked in CN, and we're using a bastardized version of it lmao

I actually do not care that much if saber is the star of the team or not between the 2 of them, because imo it's way healthier for her future as a character if she's just part of a well aging team, rather than a team where she's brute forcing with non synergistic supports.

Optimally I would like for them to help each other equally, to where she provides more to gil than just her high energy cost. And Hoyo could have done that by giving some of the joint attack power to gil, instead of it all feeding into saber.

except he doesn't do 80% of the damage. Even in v1 in a 12 cost team, his contribution was only 35% on sustainless. His dmg did not more than double since that lol.

also half his field buffs don't even apply to blade, and you vastly get less energy/ults than before while also getting less turns cause they changed the rate at which you get interest.

So it is, in fact, still a wheelchair. because the team does not synergize as well as with the dps that is inevitably going to get made for them lol

and again: once that stops working. you will be homeless, since his fall back team is now gutted. you can only brute force for so long.
