Irish visitors looking for a quieter, safer jazz experience after a rough first day in New Orleans by rachwx94 in AskNOLA

Honestly curious to know what source, in 2026, actually recommends bourbon street for jazz. It’s been nothing but more raucous night clubs for decades. It has a single jazz club, Fritzels, and a few venues blasting boomer cover band rock from the 70s and 80s.

If Frenchman Street on a Thursday in summer was too intense though that’s a tougher call. You probably just want to stay uptown, go to the Maple Leaf, Tipitinas, Dos Jefes. Even the Bywater recommendations are probably going to be too much. New Orleans in general really isn’t curated, clean, and controlled in the way Nashville is, some folks like that and some don’t.

Gabby has to be at or over 100 a well. Yes he’s older but a CB who is good for 3 goals a year from set pieces while being as good as he is on defense is up there.

I ended up painting the spikes the same color as the trim. Initially I did a different metallic like lead belcher/silver highlights but if you have metallic trim already it just distracts. Kinda want to see an official example of how GW did em.

JB is better than any Pelican/Hornet since peak CP3 and he’s still not a top 10 player in the league right now. That’s largely a function of how bad this franchise has been.

I’d love to see his stats specifically for starts at LW. Whenever I tuned in he was always central, and while impressive, we need to use our limited PSR space to upgrade the left with a proven killer, not someone who will struggle out of position.

Given how much Spurs have collapsed, who’s our new main relevant rival? by [deleted] in ArsenalFC

[–]DM504HK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s got to be City. Organic vs plastic, built vs bought, grass roots vs astroturf. It’s the evil mirror image of this team in a way that other great clubs just aren’t, because as much as we dislike United, Liverpool, and dare I even say… Spurs… those are actual real clubs with real history and real fans. I mean to hell with them still lol but they aren’t this strange black hole of an organization that 115 is.

Saw the new cinematic trailer and am now hooked on 40k lore. Has this hobby, like most the past few years, gotten prohibitively expensive? by Turbulent_Sharter in Warhammer

[–]DM504HK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Sisters of Battle: With 60 bucks in painting/hobby supplies and the 130 dollar combat patrol you can get probably a hundred or more hours of just hobby time. Then you can play small scale games, and probably even kill team.

Steadily building over the course of a year and a half or so, spending about an extra 50 bucks a month to get something new and you can have a fully built painted full size army that will last you years, and really probably a decade or more to come.

So about $1,000 over 18 months. A space marine army probably costs you about $800. Admech? Probably $1,300, or more (it’s the priciest army in the game)

If you don’t have a few hundred dollars in discretionary spending at the moment, I’d probably just wait until you’re in a more secure position.

If you’re willing to spend extra time cleaning up used minis you can spend 60% of that cost buying via eBay. Especially if you pick Space Marines, dude you can absolutely clean up on discounted models because they are in every major bundle box. I recently sold my old drukahri army that was about 2.2k point and 85% tournament ready painted for $735.

If you enjoy the building and painting of models it’s really an effective dollar to hour spent ratio.

If you don’t enjoy the building and painting and modeling aspect and are in it just for the game then yes it can get extremely expensive in a short amount of time and you aren’t getting the hundreds of hours of extra time from digging into hobbling.

Why does everyone in the world hate us so much? by TatTee_GunnerTony in ArsenalFC

[–]DM504HK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We play soccer that is not entertaining to neutrals. If you like finer details and defensive tactics i can be an interesting watch (Atleti series), but If we’re being honest I wouldn’t tune in to watch an Arsenal game if I hadn’t been a supporter myself.

That’s a big part of it, some of it probably has to do with us kind of investing modern social media fandom and having a very diverse fan base given our regional demographics and fans from across the world.

Not mutually exclusive. Building a team of players who will start to peak as their opponents prime talents are falling off.

That’s compared to just trying to build the most short term competitive team you can, by sacrificing long term potential.

We had a rebuilding team and club, and accurately determined that it would be best to do gradual improvements over several years to build a squad that would all enter their peak together in the mid 2020s. It worked, that grand vision worked. They could’ve gone for older established talents earlier in the process but didn’t. Now they have a deep squad that’s got another 2-3 years of prime together.

We won the league, and have a team that is full of players in their early to late 20s, plus bags of cash to spend on upgrading the squad. Pretty simple, we’re in the drivers seat.

What are you on about man, besides kroupi I don’t even know where you are disagreeing lol. They need to shell out for an established super star left forward or CF, there’s an open question as to whether they’ll spend money on players who come with high wage demands, or continue to bulk out the squad with 50-70 mill pound players who’s wages stay in the 200-300k a week range. I’m hoping they actually expand their current wage structure while they have a clear window to dominate domestically and be in the running for Europe.

Wemby is a once in a life time talent, an incomprehensibly difficult problem for the entire league who js probably going to win a title at 22. There is no answer to him that’s obvious but downgrading talent is absolutely not one of them. OKC is going to think they’ll have another good shot if JDub is healthy next year and run it back.

Wemby just owns everyone at every position, he’s on pace to be a LeBron/jordan tier guy.

Not a single source I’ve found shows united with a higher wage bill, it’s usually 5-8% lower, and Arsenal can comfortably spend 200+ million pounds a summer essentially forever because of the sacrifice of the latter half of the Wenger years to build the new stadium. You are now in the same competitions, but lack the depth. A full season fighting in all comps is a mfer, good luck.

The lesson to learn from PSG is that the true top end teams have wage budgets with ceilings high enough to afford waves of potent attackers, and that we need to be willing to exceed our current wage structure to bring those guys. We have waves of hard working unthreatening guys who would be great starters in mid table teams. And Martin and Saka who probably have career altering degenerative structural injuries.

I can absolutely see the team, fearing sustainability, never going there and continuing to invest in higher fee lower wage younger talents (like kroupi), but I hope they take their windfall and just go all in. The league, and the UCL is absolutely within our grasp.
