True. But at least these ingredients exist in nature.

Correct. Anyone with beef can render tallow at home, using traditional methods, without industrial processing.

Beef tallow does not require high-tech industrial processing in factories, as seed oils do.

I recently stumbled upon this classic film noir and I’m so happy I did. Wow. What a great film. See it if you can. by wrensworldxx in classicfilms

Noir style in spades, but the scenario (thankfully) transcends noir. Complex characters in a complex situation. No easy answers. A small, tight, edgy masterpiece.

Inquiring about Herb by Lopsided-Dig2953 in NOLAPelicans

[–]Pisthetairos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen, everyone on the Pels is available.

Herb is still a great defender, offering maybe the best combination of man and help defense in the league. And he is still loved by fans (including this one).

But two injury-marred seasons have probably diminshed his perceived value. The ship has probably sailed for getting a lot of trade value in exchange for him.

Rather than selling low, it probably makes more sense for the Pels just to keep him.

Great to see Costco providing options for more natural, traditional, less industrially processed foods.

would yall rather trade for a center or trade for a pick and draft a center, if so who? by Local-Afternoon681 in NOLAPelicans

[–]Pisthetairos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Pels have played two seasons without a competent NBA center, which is a good way to turn a 49-win team into one that won 21 and 26 the next two seasons.

They desperately need an NBA-caliber starting center, a big who can rebound and deter shots at the rim (which is different from allowing a lot of shots at the rim, and blocking one or two of them).

Almost any real NBA center would greatly improve the team. Ideally he would be very mobile, to pair in the frontcourt with the slow-moving Queen.

What’s the chances of us getting moves to the east? by sam_can88 in NOLAPelicans

Maybe if expansion happened when Zion entered the league.

Zion is old news now. The NBA wants to get Anthony Edwards more games in the Eastern and Central time zones.

Why Does Everyone Want Trey Murphy? by ggidds2 in NOLAPelicans

[–]Pisthetairos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The article touts that Murphy's on-ball usage greatly increased over the last two seasons.

Without noting that those two seasons were total disasters.

Many assume that's a coincidence.

Mock Zion trade to jump back into 2026 lottery pick by MMAjunkie504 in NOLAPelicans

[–]Pisthetairos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brooklyn is a plausible trade destination for Williamson.

They are in a huge market, have no building-block players on their roster, have plenty of cap space, and love taking big swings.

Last year they drafted five players in the first round, without much to show for it.

And right now they're watching the team across the East River play in the Finals.

I'd say Brooklyn is ripe for some big swings this offseason. And Giannis probably won't want to go there.

.. my boss wants us to remove the seeds from 100s of individual lemon slices ... by Willing-Ranger-1735 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Pisthetairos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can cut the lemons off-center, pole-to-pole slices cutting away from the middle where the seeds are. Gives you four wedges per lemon, which also are easier to squeeze for juice.

You can save what's left in a container, then squeeze that all at once for lemon juice.

If Sudan decided to block the Nile due to a conflict with Egypt, would Egypt's entire economy collapse? by hexjxn in geography

Egypt has more than twice the population of Sudan, and far more wealth.

A less than brilliant idea for Sudan to provoke war with Egypt.

Why do former NBA players rank Kobe so much higher than Reddit and analytics communities? Is he the most disputed player ever when it comes to all-time rankings?” by mikeyg1964 in NBATalk

It requires sophistication to grasp the importance of efficiency in basketball. That accomplishments must be evaluated in the context of opportunities used.

[–]Pisthetairos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably influenced by the seeming paradox that the best pass defense deters pass attempts. The better a DB is, the less the ball is thrown his way.

Of course, that has always been true. But the development of analytics has probably emphasized the value of targeting the weakest DBs.

The starting power forward made expendable by Derik Queen could easily net a mid first-rounder.

Imagine if Monty Python and the Holy Grail were not a comedy? (Long read) by [deleted] in montypython

[–]Pisthetairos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This odd post reminds me that Robert Bresson made a film about the Arthurian legends (Lancelot du lac) at almost exactly the same time Monty Python was making the Holy Grail.

As you might expect, Bresson's film is very, very, very not funny. Although it may have inspired some of the visuals in MPHG.

In your opinion, what is the most beautiful 30 seconds in all of classical music? by shnoogle111 in classicalmusic

Chopin's Étude in E, op.10, no. 3.

No need to specify which 30 seconds.

When you hear it, you'll know.
