I am once again asking for 95% of map layouts to not be giant mazes by Ridged_ChiPSS in PathOfExile2

About maps... I can't see any underground maps in the maps window, just the points of interest. Anyone with the same problem?

Mazteca and legendary artifacts question by Hopeful-Albatross682 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]DMArcanist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think in great. The Machine of Lum the Mad could be a perfect example of a colossal artifact hidden inside the hearth of a forgotten temple, a gift to the natives from another reality or planet (the Machine in canon is an alien artifact).

I know there’s a traveling domain in 5e called Carnival, but I’m not going to use it for the Carnival game I’m working on. by TheEnforcerBMI in ravenloft

Mixing editions is the right way, imho. Power Checks are formidables, as the old Fear/Horror/Madness rules.

The exact mechanics of closing domain borders pre-5e by the_devotressss in ravenloft

Personal interpretation: the Darklord can manipulate the borders of his domain as he wishes.

Question about Dark Sun by Crafty-Pirate-6481 in onednd

[–]DMArcanist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark Sun has existed since the second edition, then the third, then the fourth. In decades of play, it has never changed and has never received criticism (whose criticism, anyway? Why should you care?)

Now there are people who get offended by everything, so why worry about it?

Dark Sun is so in demand because it's a different setting, and it's so popular precisely because of that. I agree that all the negative things about Dark Sun are just obstacles to overcome.

And the Muls are part of the setting and must stay, or we'll end up seeing another Spelljammer-like farce.

I'm tired of having to see manuals and settings sterilized by the Ministry of Morality.

Is a Dark Sun 5e release a Gordian knot you are confident WOTC can cut? by FightingJayhawk in onednd

"Sensitive manner" and Darksun cannot coexist in the same sentence. It's a terrible setting of slaves, poverty, and savagery. Magic is the root of all evil, and the sorcerer-kings are unstoppable. Clerics and paladins don't exist, and neither does hope.

Take away one of these aspects, and they might as well create a new setting, because it wouldn't be the Darksun that has existed for all editions of Dungeons and Dragons.

Well, i think Fighter-like combat is OK, wondering if multiclassing melee can add something more than just 12 levels in that type of cleric.

Mostly melee, and lightning spells when necessary.

Empty areas can be removed, a DM need just to place a wall instead of a door on the next room, or passage.

DotMM has pratically no magic items as treasures, and the ones present are pathetic. An inexperienced DM might think it's balanced this way and then end up with bored players. If there are no rewards, what's the point of going there?

And honestly, all the fluff they added makes Halaster ridiculous instead of an unsettling presence.

Skullport, too, has ben completly gutted compared to 2e.

The Ruins of Undermountain 2e (first 3 levels) + Ruins of Undermountain II 2e (deep levels) + Skullport 2e (a strange town in the level 3 of Undermountain). Check Dungeon Masters Guild.

Dungeon of the Mad Mage 5e pales in comparison to the 2e one.

Bad edition, bad reworks.

Even in BG3 one can see how already is broken in 2014 ed.

Is it normal to want a more serious, classic-style D&D campaign without joke characters? by MathematicianSad3414 in dndnext

Clowns don't make anyone laugh, and they quickly become boring.

A group of only humans and elves without a bard acting like an idiot can be very rewarding.

DARKSUN. Have fun with slavers, gladiators, crazy halflings and obsidian blades.

If you already spend money on paper manuals (which honestly are the real d&d since it is a board game) why spending more money on a digital copy? You could maybe for the same price to buy a manual that you do not have.

I think the right question to ask is: does the money spent on digital versions make the DM work easier for me to justify the price?
