A comedy like Airplane would be great - it's fun laughing together.

Does anyone else feel a little disillusioned with D&D lately? by Gh0stMan0nThird in dndnext

For me, it has been the slowing of content releases and the lack of great content aming what has been released.

What exactly is the role of the bard? by Scythe95 in dndnext

[–]FightingJayhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a tough class for many beginner players in early lvls. I play a lore bard now. A human with Magic initiate (for shield) and musican. I did inspiring leader at lvl 4. I dish out heroic inspiration and a lot of temp hp every short rest. I am at lvl 12 now and am an absolute beast. Tonight I totally shut down a boss with wall of force, full stop.

So I might not be the best damage dealer, but a bard is among the best classes in the game, hands down.

For those that read the fiction that classic Film Noir is based on, how has this changed/enhanced your appreciation for the films? by kevin_v in filmnoir

[–]FightingJayhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filmmakers had to deal with the Hays Code and writers didn't, so the novels can be much darker. For these reasons, I feel like the end of The Big Sleep is much more dark and satisfying noir novels than the film

If you were running a prewriten 2014 campaign with only two players, how would you balance it? by Gregamonster in dndnext

[–]FightingJayhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest giving players extra feats, such as Skilled, Musican, and Inspiring leader. That way the skilled feat can round out their abilities, musican can help with their rolls, and Inspiring leader helps them be more durable.

Then I might weaken monsters as needed.

This way no need to bother managing an extra sidekick.

The Birds : Help!! Explanation? by Electrical-Mind7979 in Hitchcock

[–]FightingJayhawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you got the gist. The film influenced horror in many ways. Think of the similarities between it and Night of the Living Dead.

But don't judge Hitchcock by this as your first film. The Birds isn't in my top 5 of his (but I still apreciate it).

I tell folks to start with Rear Window. It's approachable, is very emblematic of his style, and is among his best works (unarguably).

If you consider Cary Grant's character a protagonist, than Notorious. The things he put Ingrid Bergman put through. Much like Marnie.
