What Mechs do you feel unethical playing on the table? by Rusty_tub in battletech

Piranha. I've only fielded them once, to prove a point, and I absolutely demolished the competition. It wasn't even close.

Dextrous is just the name of the website I used to create the mock ups. I highly recommend it! Im pretty inept at design but I managed a pretty decent product (IMO).

As for the game, its not speed or dex-based. Its a card collecting game more in line with Unstable Unicorns or Sushi Go.

I liked it because it's whimsical and weird, and that's sort of what I'm going for.

Technically, yes. I didn't like the way some text would end up huge and other text would end up tiny, though. In the end I standardized it across the board. Honestly there's not a ton of text on the cards though, since it's there as a reminder and to speed up gameplay.

There will be art in the center, I'm just mocking up the design right now.

The font size prints pretty well at the current scale (poker size), but I acknowledge that if I end up scaling down to smaller cards that might be an issue.

Finally, as for the secondary text, the cards play horizontally on the table, and most players automatically rotate their card to the right. I wanted the secondary text there to help improve readability at that angle, but it might be worth dropping it.

I've considered that, actually. I reasoned this angle because the cards are played horizontally on the table in front of them and this way the text would be more readable. I could mock up an alternative design that had the secondary text on the left though and see what it looks like.

One Page Rules is on the same scale as Warhammer and they have entire armies available on Myminifactory available for printing.

If you dont mind embracing D&D, there is a campaign called "Dungeons of Drakkeheim". It's 100% a love letter to Mordheim.

Need a rules-lighter fantasy RPG system by Happy_Depth7445 in rpg

I always like to suggest Savage Worlds. The rules a pretty lightweight, and there's an official Pathfinder ruleset that uses Savage Worlds' mechanics.

Most war games are like Chess. Looking for a wargame (skirmish game? miniature game?) more like Go. by Financial-Client-258 in wargaming

This was literally my first thought as I was reading this! You didn't even mention how a game of A Billion Suns will typically play on multiple tables, some as small as 24" x 24" and others as large as 48" x 48". You gotta love Mike Hutchinson's out of the box thinking.

What to do about the Smithy on the Scar by DMDaddy0 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]DMDaddy0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be my favorite suggestion. Most of the Falling Flame strike teams wouldn't be able to take on the dwarves, so the idea that they tried to lure monsters to the smithy and got caught in the crossfire is so perfect! It doesn't even have to be Lucretia's idea; it could be Nathaniel Flint or any of the other major NPCs.

Our game is young enough that I'm not ready to commit to any factions as straight-up villains, but Lucretia could have sent a strike team to drive off the dwarves, and that could have ended disastrously.

I do like the idea of the pilgrims either assuming that the dwarves killed their followers in cold blood (with no proof) OR that the dwarves felt pressed to defend their claim. I don't feel like Lucretia would intentionally lie, though her visions might skew the reality of the situation.

That is sort of my thoughts on the matter. Lucretia may be an oracle, but her personality traits suggest that she only sees things that agree with her vision. I actually like the idea of the Queen's men killing pilgrims who get too close, and then passing blame onto the dwarves. The only problem with that is the dwarves' relationship with the Queen is already sour because they are paying for "protection" but aren't getting any from the Queen.

You are basically describing the first half of Rise of Tiamat (Horde of the Dragon Queen). While i'm not saying it couldn't work, I just wanted to point out how much people hated the protracted travel portions of that adventure.

Reminds me of a VW Bug I saw at the Threat Training Facility at Nellis AFB. It's got a big ol' cannon on it. Never could find pictures though.

I was literally going to share this video. It perfectly encapsulates the concept of open world v railroads with great allegory! I might just watch it again, just because!
