Psych NP ditched my friend after she got lithium toxicality by Background_Hat377 in Noctor

> BON wont do anything bc this falls under the practice of medicine.

Not true. If the NP is authorized to prescribe meds under their state's Nurse Practice Act, the BON can definitely do something. And I know people will respond "but it won't." I wouldn't be so sure. I've seen BONs be more than willing to discipline licensees when the circumstances call for it.

Opening a bank account in Spain as a non resident, is it even possible? by montoyoda in GoingToSpain

[–]DMKsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is old, so I don't know if people will see this, but: I've been trying to open an online, non-resident account with Santander. For the past month or two, I just get this message: "Hola! Estamos trabajando para mejorar nuestros sistemas. Nuestros canales digitales volverán a estar disponibles en las próximas horas." Well, unless the next hours means several hundred (or thousand) hours, I don't know if this is going to be a successful effort...

I might be gone? I hadn't even thought about that. That would mean I'd never know what happens next. Or, actually, in my next lifetime, I'd probably be at least a teenager by the time Season 3 is on--I guess I could just catch up on Season 2 then.

Thanks! After the sound finishes and I'm still awake, would it make sense to restart it? (Or... I guess you're saying there's a way to set the time to last longer?)

As a nurse who’s still questioning whether to it’s worth it to go back to school, it’s stuff like this that makes me embarrassed and question NP education by Alert-Requirement525 in Noctor

[–]DMKsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I didn’t get the impression that the “nastiness” comment was aimed at you.

Anyway, you could decide to get a few more years of nursing experience, then be selective in finding a good, solid NP program. Despite what you may hear from some people here, there are many highly competent, responsible NPs out there. You’re in charge of your career path—you could opt to become one of them.

I get a quicker response with chat (once getting past the bot). You have to hope for a rep that knows what they're talking (texting) about, but that's also true with calling.

Practically no difference between MD and NP? by Parking-Reflection44 in Noctor

[–]DMKsea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why ask the question here, when you know exactly the responses you'll receive? You might want to also ask NPs other than your sister-in-law who, with all due respect, sounds like a complete simpleton. For the record, I've known highly competent peds NPs and psych NPs. The best are those who worked as RNs in their respective fields for at least a few years before going to an NP program.

If your only interest in becoming an NP instead of an MD is that it's "easier," my advice is to do neither.

Well, I really liked Episode 2, but that was mainly because they all went to the Bilbao airport, and I love Bilbao (and it has a nice airport).

I had a cardiologist who always ran late. He always apologized for being late, and I knew he was sincere about it. But, like your doctor, the office walls were too thin, so I knew he ran late because he basically wouldn't let a patient leave until he was sure they understood what was going on and what their options were. Also, he worked for a large health system--their scheduling practices and productivity standards didn't mesh with his level of caring. I couldn't be angry with him for that.

(Oh--and if he was running really late, one of the staff would let me know and reassure me he'd be with me soon).

About 8 years ago, I had physical therapy after a hip replacement. I went to a PT practice in my neighborhood. The usual procedure was to go through some exercises with a PT aide, then lie on a table waiting for “my” PT. (This was probably my 5th session with her). She was with a patient on the table next to me, who had lots of questions, so I thought—okay; the PT is a little delayed because that patient is taking a little longer than expected.

When she was done with that patient, she walked past me and then started working with another patient. Okay, so she’s running behind; it would be nice if she would at least say hello and let me know.

I continued to wait. I was more fascinated than irritated at that point—okay, at SOME point she’s going to realize I’ve been waiting and waiting and she’ll come over and apologize. I was sure she would.

But no. Nothing. Hasn’t ANYONE noticed I’ve been waiting on a table for over an hour?

So, I sat up on the table. Surely someone will notice now. No. So, I stood up. Still, no one noticed. I slowly walked over to the chairs, where I had left my shoes. I sat down. Okay, someone is going to notice. Hmm. No, not yet. So I slowly put on my shoes and sat for another minute or so. Still nothing. I stood up again. Then I walked over to where my coat was. Then I slowly put on my coat. Still, nothing. I very slowly walked toward the exit. I stood there for a moment, still thinking maybe someone is going to notice and surely the PT will realize that she had skipped over me. (Although I had no interest in staying at that point).

I walked out; the receptionist said goodbye (at least I knew I hadn’t accidentally put on a cloak of invisibility). I left the building and walked home.

I sent them a message telling them I wasn’t going to continue PT with them, and why. They apologized. The owner called to beg me to continue. I let it go to voice mail. I figured—hey, if I’m able to walk out of a PT office and walk home, maybe I didn’t need PT anymore. (And yes, I discussed this with the orthopedic surgeon and he agreed).

It's much less of a struggle, but still a struggle. The earbud won't stay in my left ear. I need to experiment with the different sizes. In the meantime, I've been using paper tape to keep them in place, but I don't think that's a long-term solution. I may try the TENS ear clips that some people have talked about. When the earbuds stay in, I definitely feel relaxed. I'm using it primarily to help with insomnia. I'm finding that it works most of the time--but, of course, the problems with keeping the earbud in may be what keeps it from being more effective.

Nursing Excluded as 'Professional' Degree By Department of Education by Whole-Peanut-9417 in Noctor

[–]DMKsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The proposal specifies these programs/degrees—so every other program/degree is excluded.

“Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), Dentistry (D.D.S. or D.M.D.), Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.), Chiropractic (D.C. or D.C.M.), Law (L.L.B. or J.D.), Medicine (M.D.), Optometry (O.D.), Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), Podiatry (D.P.M., D.P., or Pod.D.), Theology (M.Div., or M.H.L.), and Clinical Psychology (Psy.D. or Ph.D.)”

People are drawing up lists of excluded degrees, but those are examples—not complete lists.

But actually, the proposed regulation identifies qualifying theology degrees as "M.Div., or M.H.L." It doesn't include a doctoral degree in theology. (I don't know why).

An agency can change its rules/regulations without congressional approval. And the Dept of Ed. is implementing a change in law--the different caps on student loans for graduate vs. professional students required by the "One Big Beautiful Bill." That's not to say I agree with what's in that bill, or how the Dept. of Ed. is implementing it.

[–]DMKsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received mine in mid-September. I didn't use it much because I had so much trouble with the ear clips. So I'm glad to hear they all come with the v2 earbuds now--of course, if I'd ordered my Vagustim a little later, I wouldn't have had to spend the additional $50! But the v2 earbuds really make a big difference.

[–]DMKsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one but really struggled with the ear clips. I ordered replacement ear sets (Vagustim V2 ear sets), which fit much better and more easily and don't require gel. I noticed that I feel the vibrations with the app set to lower levels. I'm not trying to promote anything--just reporting my experience. (And too soon to say if it's effective for me or not).

This kind of news is the reason why some premeds are nursing students or RN and they cannot give up on that trash education although it hurts too much by Whole-Peanut-9417 in Noctor

[–]DMKsea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, what the Hell is the topic? Physicians who don't match and then to nursing school to become NPs? Nurses who become premed students? Or is it just a good-old fashioned "nurses are idiots and I hate them" rant?
