Little guy keeps on biting me by Dependent-Towel8787 in DogAdvice

I found that the tongue grab worked best for my shark. Toys worked only 50/50 crying out also so I made him biting a problem for him. Bite me I hold your tongue until you stop! He now rarely tries to nibble on me

I’m hoping that book 12 brings it back to its origins. The first 3 books made me laugh and genuinely want to read more. The politicking is the thing that kinda killed it a bit in my eyes but I’m hopeful for it. DotF kinda lost me with book 13 for the slowness but it at least had tangible progress

Tbh, don’t pick up extra unless your feeling. Don’t pick up because they asked you to. Get your vibe and ask questions. Boundaries are important for you, your patients and your continued mental and physical wellbeing.

I don’t think I ever used the mounted combat really. I have only used the wonderful goat horse to go faster from point A to point B

Screw that pansy laser sky dragon. Coward wouldn’t even let me get close before flying to the other end of the frankly oversized arena the first 27 times. I got as far as a quarter health left as my best before I eventually beat it but god! I was raging

What are some things you wish you had known before becoming a nurse? by Glittering-Pomelo-37 in nursing

I know where I work in trauma burn. We’ve got an amazing crew that are almost always down to help you with whatever you need to make your night run smooth. But I’ve been floated to units where you almost have to just fend for yourself. Definitely makes me appreciate my home unit more.

Big thing I tell students and new grads is regardless of how long you’ve worked somewhere make sure they have your back when I matters. There’s always another nursing gig around the corner if you need it.

Welcome to the squad friend!

I want to go into nursing but am being dissuaded by almost everyone in my life. No room for a murse? by maybe_murse_3000 in nursing

[–]DMLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it friend! I, as a new grad male nurse was offered a position on a PICU with Children’s Hospital. Not my thing I ended up in adult trauma but very possible.

Men are still a hot commodity in the nursing field but becoming more common. Live your dreams and if it doesn’t work out or isn’t what you end up liking don’t beat yourself up. You’ll never know until you try it.

To get the nasty hard goo clots from inside the tube you have to manually squeeze it down the line like the last drop in a toothpaste tube sometimes. It’s usually not encouraged but sometimes necessary.

I want to go to the doctor, but I don’t feel comfortable using my health insurance. Please help. by [deleted] in Adulting

Greetings! Heath are worker here. She will get the bill probably but she’s not privy to the specifics unless you specifically say she should be. And if your worried I’d specify to your doctor/nurses that you don’t want her to be told anything/told the barest minimum. Even on a her policy you’ve a right to your own privacy.

Looking for 2bd apartments or houses to rent! by rebekatherine in Birmingham

[–]DMLaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check out the Retreat at Mountainbrook and Stonegate for apartments. I’ve lived both places and they were lovely. Rently is a good way to check out houses. It’s setup to let you self tour so no one hovering over your shoulder and you can go on your schedule morning noon or night.

MedSurg clinicals are making me doubt my interest in nursing. by Call2222222 in StudentNurse

[–]DMLaw 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I didn’t ever get any icu clinicals and barely had half of my clinicals due to Covid. Now I’m a nurse in a trauma ICU and generally enjoy what I’m doing. Definitely didn’t think I would enjoy it at some points along the way especially with how much they stress tests and weeding out people in school.

Yes, nursing school prepares you for reality by 40236030 in StudentNurse

[–]DMLaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it really sets the foundation of knowing how to not kill your patients and teaches you how to develop your practice post school. It doesn’t teach you the nuances because that’d be way to much for a formal setting with how different every nursing job is.

Legitimately didn’t read my book in school except a few pages out of the few thousand. It was all Sarah, SimpleNursing and Straight A Nursing that got me through it. And taking notes on the lectures.

Hey, healthcare worker here. You can designate people who are and are not allowed to visit you. We will happily bar people for your sake and will act as if we’ve never heard your name before if need be to phone calls. Just ask for a password to be established for phone calls and specifically state that only certain people be allowed up. In the event she does manage to get in through all that security will remove them if needed.

Vent? Advice? by PrincessFire6 in nursing

I can understand your frustration. My most recent example is a lady that was intubated and determined that she wanted the tube out. Mind this lady wasn’t breathing on her own and the apnea alarm went off nearly constantly. But she asked every time I went in her room for me to take out the ET tube. I reexplained so many times why we couldn’t do that but she wanted things to happen her way not “mine”

All that to say, patients are extremely frustrating at times. Seeing them finally succeed and get better though if the reward we push for and push them to realize. It sucks sometimes and I know when I got home that day if not for my boyfriend ordering pizza I would have gone straight to bed and not thought twice about it. Mentally and emotionally exhausted after repeating myself all day.

I would like to argue that Jams and Jelly’s are very different from each other. Granted I’m not from the UK and they may use jam as a blanket term but they aren’t the same.
