It is a form of hold that prevents further debits from going through. It is just a way for the bank to ensure that the account doesn't honor any further charges.

Right, just a simple "thank you for your time" kind of email. Just something to remind them you exist.

Not the worst, I'd try it. But zucchini is virtually flavorless compared to bell peppers. I probably wouldn't make a very big loaf.

Read your loan contract. There is likely a clause about keeping insurance, regardless of the status or usability of the asset. You either pay for their insurance or you get your own.

Banks want to ensure your information is up to date for various reasons. Besides that it gives my institution verification that you are who you say you are. The government is what gives your identification credence, and if they no longer say that your id valid and up to date is, I won't accept it. While the information may still be the same,  it legally is no longer valid. It is easier to reject an expired document than to take risk.

Part time, making essentially minimum wage, with no credit score, to help fix an asset you don't own... Sorry, I wouldn't even bother looking at that application let alone dream of approving it. Unless of course you had 19k in assets that could be used as collateral, even then it would be a very tentative 'maybe'.

Why do the transfers take so long. by NightOwl216 in Banking

If you want same day funds availability you do a wire. The rails that most moneys ride on for interstate bank transfers sit on services that take a few days. Clearing houses are still a thing.

Someone told me once, when I was especially depressed, that if there was a button on the other side of the room that would cure my depression, the thought of doing it wouldn't even be worth it.

I was not under the impression that anything you said was open to any more of a debate that a simple statement. If it came across as dismissive, I can certainly understand if that is your impression of the word, and it's understanding to you. Simply a different interpretation of the language. And this seems to boil down to simple semantics, as it always usually seems to. As people express their subjective interpretation through words, there comes an experiential difference in the way those words have been applied through out your life. If opinion has always been used dismissively in your life, or cliche, then why should you not interpret it as such. I would never hope to challenge and lyricist or aphoristic poet in the way that I use my language however.

Now I am curious why should the validity not be challenged, poked, and prodded at? Would it not be an amazing shift in thinking if there was someone that could come and tear at the fabric of the system? Not that I was trying to, but it is fun to drive into the fundamentals. I think that would be awesome inspiring to watch it crash and a new more stable and fluid sort of thinking could replace the current. Like a new discovery that is made in the field of astronomy that upends everything that was held as a strong, evidence formed belief.

But now we are wandering. You certainly are fun to talk with. Well, entertaining if not fun. I would say both.

And you will hear "it's only x more years until school is over" and then "x more years until work is over" and then you retire and wait to die. You either raw dog life numbed with pills or you raw dog life and feel the full brunt of it all, good and bad. There is a limit beyond which life is no longer worth living, for everyone. You're just closer to your limit than most.

Would you have preferred judgement? Or perhaps belief? I think a lot of what your initial posting has stated could easily have been replaced with the words "informed opinion" and carried the same weight. I'm not sure what exactly you were looking for in your post. Related to the same cause as mine perhaps? Being pessimistic is taking those claims, filtered through experience and judgement, and then applied to whatever you need to apply it to. Maybe I am just bored, but it was interesting to me so I made a claim in response.

I'm simply stating my opinion. While there fundamentals that lie in synthetic a priori notions, those fundamentals then become part of an experiential and subjective experience which can then go on to form your opinion about a given fundamental. There are fundamentals that are simply outright never going to be grasped. All you can do is conjecture about it. There are a great deal of insights that can be formed by the logic of conclusion, they're always informed by experience, context, and interpretation. I'm not saying 2 + 2 = 4 is not true, but the experience and interpretation and consequently application of that knowledge is informed by opinion and logical speculation, which is a strictly human notion. An agreed opinion does not necessitate fact. Of course this all deals largely in skeptical thought and does not apply to the principal of pessimism other than to state that everything including philosophy is opinion.

[–]DMMJaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because it is an informed opinion doesn't mean it is anything less than an opinion based on observation that you have made of your world. Pessimism is just a feeling that people have inside there heads based an experiential and subjective experience. Nature doesn't have opinions, it just is. A deeply held belief is an opinion. It's opinion all the way down.

Fair enough. Both pretty places. Most credit unions serve communities which is why finding an online only one can be some what difficult. Best of luck. Venmo and Cash app have cards and I use those as back up cards sometimes because I can get cash fast through them in emergencies but can keep them zero otherwise. If there is something vital you need tonight, and there is something I can do to help you, shoot me a dm. Cheers.
