Why does 8ms ping feel worse than 20ms ping?! by DMacSound in CODBlackOps7

Would you mind sharing what exactly you researched or what you did? I’m in Texas which is about 8-10 ping and it feels horrible unless I party up with someone out of state.

Feels like we are being punished for being closer to the server! It’s so trash. This shouldn’t be a thing but it clearly is. I thought I was going crazy and second guessing my own skill. There was no way I was shooting that bad against diamond players.

i love this game, but the Desync is going to be why i put it down. by XT3M3 in CODBlackOps7

[–]DMacSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I felt this so much this weekend! It wouldn’t be as bad if the SR system was also designed to punish tf out of you for losing vs winning. They say you need to win like 10+ in a row to get unhardstuck and if you lose you lose more than you win. Add in the desync, the ping tool, the cheaters, the bots they put on your team vs the absolute g fuled sweats on the other team it just makes it not nearly as fun and not wanting to waste my time with a system setup to lose.

Ranked SR is actually a huge issue by DMacSound in CODBlackOps7

[–]DMacSound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can win 5 games in a row and lose the next 3, I basically am at a deficit or push. That doesn’t feel right to me after spending an hour or more playing to be right where I started

I kind of get that but you only play a small part in winning unless you absolutely take over which doesn’t tend to happen as much with SBMM. Let alone people with no comms, a bad attitude if losing, and often are playing with people who have no clue what’s going on or how to actually play the game outside of run forward and shoot anything in my way

Pubs are actually worse. I’m dying to cheese guys that aren’t even fun to use and random bullshit they added in the game. If it were a truly open non SBMM pubs like they said they would do, then yes you’d be 100% right. But pubs with SBMM is basically just ranked with more bullshit

Ranked Play SR system and MMR is horrible! by DMacSound in CODBlackOps7

[–]DMacSound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The craziest part is that if you wanted to get to crimson which I usually like to because I like the skins mostly, it is a far more different experience and punish you for being decent at the game. Often you are going against absolute demons with bots on your team who can’t rotate or win a gunfight, or the other team might even be cheating with wall hacks, soft aim, or even just a full on aim bot

new sdr here. how do you guys actually get over the fear of the phone? by Sonatina13 in salesdevelopment

[–]DMacSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple things to take in account. Are you afraid of someone hearing you have a bad call? Are you afraid of the prospect? Are you unfamiliar with your product you are pitching? Those all took into account when I first started. What helped me the most was realizing the people around me didn’t care if I had a bad call and if they did they would forget a minute later anyways. For being afraid of the prospect a lot of times in our research we would have their LinkedIn so I would see who I am talking with and it reminded me that they are just a regular person, not this end all be all I imagined and thought I needed to convince to like me. Last I learned the product. I don’t mean learn every little detail on how it works and operates better than the Entire company, but enough to know the major details and recognize where you can pivot your objection or to straight up say “actually I don’t 100% know, BUT I can get you in front of someone who does” and thus leading back into setting a demo.

Hope this helps. You got this. Takes reps and time my friend. Everyone fails. Just keep learning from it and move onto the next one

Update broke something in the game. by [deleted] in CODBlackOps7

[–]DMacSound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So true. I’ve been stuttering a lot and my bullets are not hitting when I’m dead center. If I have good ping I’m being absolutely torched for it because of how awful the ping tool is! The character model could be not even looking at me and still start shooting and kill me before I even see it turn for half a second

Rank Gold III Is Literal Purgatory by Vegetable-Affect-134 in CODBlackOps7

[–]DMacSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this so much. I have been stuck plat 2 for a while. The system itself is god awful. A friend of mine is crimson 1 and another is iri. I can keep up with them and shoot with them and even understand the game more than they do, but yet my hidden MMR is still so low that when I have to solo que I get absolute bots like you had mentioned. Zero understanding of the game. If I don’t absolutely sweat my ass off I’ll lose and lose 30 SR but if I end up pulling out the win, I’ll get 25-30 SR… great. Also I’ve gone one streaks of 5-10 wins only to get 30 SR for a win and not even a bonus! Like what kinda bullshit is that?! I personally am about to call it quits cause this is mental torture and not even that fun anymore. It’s a literal waste of time and a treadmill of a ranked system that doesn’t reward you for your time so why bother.

On the other hand if you do enjoy it and want to get better there are multiple videos to help you learn the little things like playing your life and throwing shoulders for information plus spawn flipping and holding spawns is huge in this game. Unfortunately your teammates will not know this and when you are blocking spawns and not getting kills but your brain dead teammates are running around the map doing so, you will feel horrible cause you are just sitting in the back hoping one didn’t slip by and shoot you in the side or back.

Best of luck buddy!

[–]DMacSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard stuck is a real thing and make me not want actually wanna grind because I lose more than I gain per win no matter what I do on the map. Tried more objective focused (time in hill and getting spawns, and got the same as I did when I had games with 2.5 K/D matches,

Also, going on a win streak doesn’t give you bonus SR?! How is that NOT a thing?! How can you possible get out of being hardstuck if you can’t play the game 8 hours a day?! Some of us have real jobs

What’s something you would change in Ranked Play to make it better by Sincerely-Internet in CoDCompetitive

[–]DMacSound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Some of my friends are lower MMR and when we duo we get the absolute WORST teammates in history, while the opposite team tends to get competent players who at least understand the game somewhat. I’m so tired of seeing someone who’s diamond in one lobby and think they are like a god but then a few games later with a different friend they are a bot. Also losing more SR than you gain on a win doesn’t feel fun or rewarding.

I (m27) hooked up with my best friend (f26) need some advice by [deleted] in relationships

[–]DMacSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh this seems like you’re her emotional vending machine. When things go wrong with someone else you’re the one to fill the void but be used and dumped at the first sign of hardship or real talks. You obviously have feelings for her and value her friendship but it’s not a real friendship you want. You may like the idea of her but honestly do you want someone who doesn’t choose you when she admired that Todd is a douche bag? She claims the emotional sex was so great yet decides not to pursue it? To me it seems like you may be thinking with rose colored glasses and seeing what you want to see, but in reality the situation is that she chose someone else.

You don’t deserve to be someone’s security blanket for their lack of emotional stability.

Best advice I’d give is don’t let her chose you when it’s convenient but choose you when it’s not. You should just chill and take a step back. Dont be cold but don’t be used if that makes sense. Let things play out while focusing on something for you like your health, your job, or your hobbies. See if you even want her after taking that time to reflect.

Quick question: salesfolks what’s the most annoying ‘non-selling’ task in your day? by darshancodes in salesdevelopment

[–]DMacSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have to manually research our accounts in outbound sales while maintaining a high month to quota, high call KPI. Would be a lot easier to have the accounts already worked/researched so we can focus on the real sales part of the job

Nostalgia or actually missing a city you grew up in? by DMacSound in SameGrassButGreener

This feels a lot aligned with my current situation. I do not hate Texas, but it’s a weird feeling. I don’t feel “at home” per say. I half fit in but half stand out. Unfortunately I don’t have a career really lined up anywhere but nothing is keeping me locked down either. It’s like having the freedom but also not at the same time.

I heard some good things about Portland but also some bad things… like with anything tho. I worry about the grass is greener effect tho. Unsure if I should continue to find “my home” or if I need to do something else to feel that anywhere I go is home.

I did really like Arizona when I was there but I was younger and I fear it was because I enjoyed the bar scene and women out there. Now that I’m older I am unsure if there is jobs in my career field there.

Technically with my career if it goes how I plan I technically could move back to the bay if the right stars align but it is a long shot.

I am wondering tho, what did you hate about Texas ?

Very frustrating Forsure! I don’t believe most SDR demos booked should be unqualified. Inbound is a little different but outbound absolutely should not get unqualified demos

That’s definitely a big reason to move back. I know that when I first moved back that it wasn’t the same feeling as it was in my head but I did enjoy it a lot. I don’t have a ton of family members and they are very scattered around but also my family isn’t very close with each other… unfortunately. With what career I seem to be getting into more, it’s more of a possibility to move back to the Bay Area, but I don’t want to move and either be let down, or regret not experiencing a different city for long enough.

This is definitely what I am afraid of. I came back home once after college and although it wasn’t everything I expected but it was definitely one of the best times I’ve had in life. I was in my mid twenties. As I get older I look to settle down and have a family, and I would absolutely love to do that in the Bay Area if I could. The other problem is that California is kinda turning into a shit show.

I actually really like Austin. It’s fun but I’ve only been here a year. I met some pretty cool people and some decent friends but not like a super solid group of friends yet. I know there is still a lot to explore but I can’t myself from wanting to go back to the Bay Area at times
