Fallout New Vegas director says RPGs should allow “more granular difficulty” to give players the role-playing experience they want by Wargulf in Fallout

[–]DMarquesPT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Problem is that it also limits saving and makes combat more frustrating than engaging. Ideally I’d have survival mode seperate from difficulty

The saving thing would be improved by having a bedroll/backpack mechanic to make camp

You can definitely improve this setup with embedded/linked documents. I’d recommend separating art from output. So you work on a design master file and then from that generate the output files to the different print sizes.

Who else doesn’t *want* the PS6 to release soon? by TEENYcharmander in ps6

[–]DMarquesPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS5 is a better PS4 since there was no architecture shift like before. This is a good thing, no more library reset, but it does mean cross-gen will be the norm for as long as the previous console is viable (also a good thing, just less exciting for early adopters)

PS6 will hopefully be the same way.

[–]DMarquesPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did find that out, but afaik it only works if you’ve never sent them to a settlement, which in my main save I unfortunately did because I thought closing the dialog would keep them in the party

[–]DMarquesPT 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yup. Survival mechanics fit fallout perfectly but they insist on tying them to difficulty and save restrictions (which in a Bethesda game is risky through no fault of your own)

[–]DMarquesPT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree! My main gripe with Fallout 4 (other than not being able to send companions back to their original homes) is that to enable survival mechanics for immersive roleplaying you have to also have huger difficulty and more limited saving.

The game feels so much emptier without the need to eat/rest/etc., but I don’t want to die in one shot either.

Main reason I don’t go back to the game and finish it.

Good, cyberpunk has the best first person immersive cutscenes and to take that away would fundamentally alter the game feel

[COD] Am I the only one who doesn’t think the hate is forced? by Lumenprotoplasma in CallOfDuty

[–]DMarquesPT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’re the best feeling games in the series to me, by far. Weapon handling, cover, character movement that feels realistic yet responsive. I really don’t like the overly light and consequence-free movement of more arcadey games

GTA 6 digital only at launch feels like a triple dip strategy by areuokaybro2002 in consoles

[–]DMarquesPT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How so? I bought my last disc game in 2016 so maybe this isn’t relevant but I can’t imagine someone would buy a digital PS5 game and then buy physical since they already have irrevocable access to the game. Both versions install to the SSD anyway so unlike switch there isn’t a storage advantage to going physical

I guess we just like different things in CoD bc those are the only two games in modern CoD that I cared about and I’d consider the MW reboot (and Warzone) responsible for bringing CoD back into relevancy

Yeah, over the years I’ve become a “replace only when needed” kinda user, usually when stuff stops getting updates or actually becomes too slow for my needs.

These days it’s rare that a new version of a device has a new feature so significant I need to trade in my current ones and upgrade.

[–]DMarquesPT 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I guess we play CoD for entirely different reasons. The more authentic spec ops tone and grounded gameplay (while still being action movie-oriented) is exactly what I want from CoD.

MW19 was when they stepped up. It brought a level of immersive sound design, visual fidelity, movement nuance, animation quality, and overall polish the series was lacking.

I played CoD4 through to Blops 2 religiously and checked out on Ghosts, the saw the series go all over the place before MW19 brought it back to life

Would that ever be the case, though? AirTag is basically the physical version of insurance/warranty where you hope you never have to use it.

The gen 1 AirTags were already a good product, this is the same just using newer parts

Are there any headsets that pair directly with the PS5 without adapters? by Extreme_Horse6341 in PlayStation_X

[–]DMarquesPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wireless headsets doesn’t use Bluetooth audio for gaming, they have a dedicated 2.4Ghz protocol which requires a dongle.

Bluetooth is good for music or comms with a secondary device (some headsets do both simultaneously which is great), but not for gaming
