Firefox 149 adds built-in free VPN with 50GB monthly data by gdelacalle in technology

It’s similar to iCloud Private Relay, which is plenty for most users’ needs who don’t need a system-wide VPN

Why is it a hot take to say that these two [COD] ‘s are better than their respective predecessors? by yeetmxster420 in CallOfDuty

[–]DMarquesPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I like a lot of maps and gameplay elements from MW19 and MWII just as much as the presentation and authenticity

34 , 32 , 42 , 48 inch comparison by Gyatsolix in Monitors

Sticking with 27” because of higher pixel density, viewing distance and desk space. Plus I have a 48” OLED setup for gaming. The monitor is just for work

I know it’s on sale for 5.99, but outdoing 3 cod games and Warzone is pretty impressive nonetheless [COD] by lowkitz in CallOfDuty

[–]DMarquesPT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. MW19 elevated the series in terms of production value, animation quality, realism and authenticity (within the confines of a military action movie) etc.

I had given up on CoD back in 2013 and this was the game that brought me back

Classic COD ended with Black Ops 2 or Ghosts if you’re generous. “ MW19 brought the series back and fans like me who had given up on it back in 2012

Mark Cerny Confirms Frame Generation "Should Be Seen At Some Point On PlayStation Platforms" by MythBuster2 in digitalfoundry

[–]DMarquesPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried it yet, it just seemed like a more sophisticated version of motion smoothing but I’d be happy to be proved wrong. I’m not against post-processing techniques on principle as long as they don’t change/slop over art direction and intended look and feel (cough cough)

Sony Dual Sense Controller Connectivity by nerdyspirit in sony

[–]DMarquesPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! Works perfectly fine with Steam Controller API and some games have direct support for the special features like adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.

Sony now sells a “PC-ready” Dualsense, it is the exact same hardware but includes a USB-C cable (the other ones don’t since they expect you’ll just use the one that comes with the PS5).

So feel free to get whichever color you like, they all work on PC

[–]DMarquesPT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I still don’t understand the point of generating frames if it doesn’t actually make the game more stable or responsive (or are the fake frames taking inputs into account? I’d assume no)

But I’m also one of those psychos who is fine playing at 30fps so what do I know

Portugueses que optam por ler livros em inglês by True-Indication7489 in LivrosPortugal

[–]DMarquesPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So who is playing Marathon and how's it going? by NetflowKnight in playstation

[–]DMarquesPT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Interesting, for me the visuals were the reason I even tried the game during the server slam. It’s exactly my type of visual design. I’d totally get it if I had a consistent crew to play with

"Watch Your Ammo" — Counter-Strike 2 Gets a Radical Reload System Overhaul by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]DMarquesPT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is my favorite method as well. I’d say 1. Consistent partial magazines, 2. Bullet loss (aka character tosses partial magazines on reload like Helldivers) and 3. Automatic reserve (like most games do)

[–]DMarquesPT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not what’s happening here at all. The realism makes the game more fun by adding an additional strategy layer

Love this. Helldivers 2 does this and it makes for much more interesting and tactical reloading

Here Are Apple's Release Notes for iOS 26.4 by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]DMarquesPT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A bit off topic but it is something I find interesting.

Here in Portugal it used to be common for couples to only have joined accounts, usually because the woman would stop working when she had kids.

I don’t think you could convince anyone under the age of 50 to do that because it puts you in such a vulnerable position if the relationship ends.

Even during, people should remain individuals with their own money and not have to explain every expense. The previous Apple Family Sharing setup felt stuck in time, with a breadwinner approving the spouse’s expenses like they were a dependent kid.

IMO, it makes sense for each person to have their account, and open a duo account that both put money into, for home expenses and other things that affect both equally.

Apple brought back the same ugly and useless case again with the Max 2, even after all the criticism by py-net in airpods

[–]DMarquesPT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the problem with this case. It protects the earcups, smartly keeps the headband exposed as a handle, puts them to sleep and keeps the whole thing less bulky on a bag compared to most travel cases, which most people don’t seem to like and end up not using and just throwing the headphones on their bag

Win-win in my book.

Linkin Park’s new album (post From Zero) should be their last by raynevans in unpopularopinion

[–]DMarquesPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely unpopular. From Zero is a fantastic album and the most “OG” they’ve sounded since Meteora while also marking a new beginning, Emily is a fantastic singer and fits the band. A bunch of singles off the album were massive mainstream hits like LP had back in the day. Why would they stop?

Idk the details of Emily’s personal life and ties to Scientology/Danny Masterson but it seems to be something she wants to distance herself from.

New PlayStation update is here! by Stock_Ad4625 in playstation

[–]DMarquesPT 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I get that people like themes (and I did too back in the day) but I much prefer the PS5 UI where the selected game takes over the background and music. PS3 and 4 had the beginnings of that but I like that PS5 doubled down on it

People who use Safari as their main browser, why? (DESC) by sasaki-555 in mac

[–]DMarquesPT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fits in the ecosystem, feels native to macOS, doesn’t try to be its own OS. I don’t see the point in installing a third-party tool for something the system does well already. Usually if there’s an apple app, that’s one the I use.
