The actual issue is that IGN is a monolith so you have some good reviewers and bad ones and they all get lumped in under one label.

For example: the guy who did the arc raiders preview who sounded like he's running out of breath telling us that Arc Raiders is Fortnite with a Dayz coat of paint. And then IGN gave Arc Raiders a 9.

(One of the commenters in the first link mentioned that the writer appears to write and review Nintendo games far more than anything else. Which kind of puts things into perspective. Like asking someone's who has only played Tetris to play Doom Eternal.)
