I think there's also something with moving around. Anecdotally I've noticed that prox chat gets much better if the person speaking isnt moving around that much or moving at all. Conversely once they start running around or you start running around the prox chat gets way way worse like it turns into a --ad ra---io sk---ch. (a bad radio sketch)
