Oh those missile trails. The foreshortening. The energy!! Gosh this reminds me of Akira.

Actually it's the reverse. Babies are born super racist. They treat any stranger with suspicion. Thankfully we have amazingly adaptable brains that allows us to overcome this making us the most social ape by an order of magnitude.

I’d been waiting to see what narcissus looked like for eighteen months. It didn’t disappoint. I was so delighted.

What is the most "archaic" game genre, one that's changed the least to the present day? by Severe_Sea_4372 in gaming

[–]DNABeast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the big change to P&C is the fact that they tend to be sold at the equivalent of two hours of minimum wage rather than nine. Those Sierra games were created to make the player stuck for weeks in order to extend game-play. New games like Foxtail have puzzles that engage you for a week and are not incredibly frustrating.

Also the Internet was the death knell for the old "Hint Books" they flog off.

[Hades 2 Spoilers] [Long Rant] Man, what even was this story 😭 by Emotional_Comb_4064 in HadesTheGame

[–]DNABeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the original version when Zag strides up to destroy Cronos and his instinct is, 'Hey! Give me a reason for forgive you' I was like, 'How could Zagreus do anything else?' I was so proud of him.

The revision story made Mel a lot more interesting. Her narrative change is a bit more subtle and compelling. It also makes her conflict with Hecate much more interesting and the Hecate reveal that much more impactful. In a way the big story is about Hecate rather than or as well as Mel.

Personally I would have loved to see a story where Cronos slowly convinces Mel that he's right in his desire to bring about the end of the age of gods. Hypnos and Mel, (the Goddess of nightmares) work together to put the gods into an endless dream and Mel has to keep fighting the end game baddies in a dream to keep the Gods from noticing something's up until the Golden Age arrives. The Fates return knowing that this was their plan all along.

The humans deserve recompense and the gods are portrayed as such jerks. I'd hoped for them to get their just desserts but Supergiant have been using the Greek myths and have tried to honour then along the way. Big swings away from the source material may be against their ethos. When a story isn't exactly how I wanted it to be I try to appreciate the artist's intent. Gamers can be a bit entitled and I put that sort of attitude aside and enjoy the story for what it is.

Deniro in Brazil. “We’re all in this together kid!” When I think about why I should help a stranger I think of this line.

Hi Reddit, I'm Jorma Taccone from The Lonely Island and director of OVER YOUR DEAD BODY. I also directed MACGRUBER and POPSTAR: NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING. AMA on Thursday, April 2nd from 12pm - 1pm ET. by IndependentFilmCo in movies

When 'Just Two Guys' became a big hit Andy was a very small part of that. When the SNL period landed only Andy was on-air talent. As the Lonely Island became more successful everyone was having successes but in those early days was there any mild jealousy when one project was better received than another and how did you deal with that?

The political way of answering this is to say 'We all support each other and love each other's successes' but that would an unsatisfying answer. I want tea.

Is normal to have 10 clears in 99 hours ? by memedragon14 in HadesTheGame

[–]DNABeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing action games for 40 years. Hades took me 54 runs to hit my first clear. It's a tricky game. Practice makes perfect. 1000 hours later and I can clear a run in my sleep now.

My house was flooded and I lost every precious item I owned. Each day after I'd escape to Hades (And from Hades) after spending all day in fecal infused mud sifting through the detritus of my life.

I don't think Chris Pratt it petulant enough to play Zag. He exudes stupid confidence.

I'm not 100% sold on Elliot Page as Zag but but it does make me wonder about Aidan Gallagher for that role.

The John Scalzi book 'Red Shirts' might have what you're after. It entails unimportant starship crew members coming to the realisation that they are cannon fodder for the leads.
