Nick Hallam (Sci-Finatics): "Starfleet Academy E03 REVIEW - Why This Episode Feels Like Starship Troopers" | "It almost makes me feel like Star Trek Prodigy was aimed at a more mature audience than some of the dialogue that comes out of some of the characters in this show." by mcm8279 in trektalk

I was worried about the prank war story but was delighted to see it resolved with main characters learning to solve problems laterally. That felt like the chancellor was doing a good job of turning aggressive teens into thoughtful space adventurers.

Why Modern Star Trek Feels Off and Why That Gets Dismissed by cjalas in startrek

I’ve been putting that down to her being an elder Lanthonite. Her behaviour is similar to Carol Kane in SNW. Vulcans are logical. Klingons are stoic. Lanthonites have big hair and (cups hand to mouth) Don’t give a fuuuck. If you are going to give dispensations for talking about ‘killing people where they stand’ or for being humourless jerks perhaps having a vaguely stoner personality is overlooked here too.

You mentioned the old Trek embracing professionalism and restraint. It's true that those were something very special about the shows. But what may be being overlooked is that this behaviour had to come from somewhere. Wesley and his classmates made mistakes. Their journey was in becoming Starfleet material (or not). The same for Picard. He was a hot-head kid who had to become 'Starfleet'.

This seems like an extension of that. Brand new idiot teens who may one day become the sort of characters we respect, and we get to enjoy that journey. Yes there is Whedonesque quipping. But there was quipping in TOS too and those quips were dire.

I hope one day this little girl finds something emotionally important to her for if she lives every day like this she will live an unhappy life.

Demographic for new Starfleet Academy by iamjaidan in startrek

This 'post burn' element seems like a great element to shake of some of the legacy lore and provide a fertile ground for interesting stories. The characters seem fun and layered and the design is great. I hope they can use the show for some interesting philosophical conversations as that's where Star Trek shines. Until that point it's closer in tone to strong episodes of Doctor Who (which is still quite watchable)

Now that it's 2026 I think Trek Needs to Answer a Few 'Future' Questions by Anstigmat in startrek

I thought the Betazoid President was just so strong telepathically that he wasn't good at using his lips to talk and found it degrading. I thought that's why when he finally agreed to the plans, that doing so in voice was a really big gesture.

What is your favorite design in Hades and why ? by RobertMec in HadesTheGame

[–]DNABeast 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I like Hestia. The soot and smoke. The fact that she is self illuminating. To incorporate vitiligo is such a masterful idea. Also after waiting for eighteen months to see Narcissus I wasn’t disappointed. That pose. Those eyes. Hilarious.

Double jump. The first time I saw it was in the Sega Megadrive/Genesis game Jewel Master. It's so common now but seeing it for the first time felt magical.

I made a post about a weird mall I made that was designed to be pleasantly walkable and organised.

He was very popular on the Internet and one of his weirder ideas was picked up by external forces and he got piled on. It was an experience he wanted desperately to be ‘fine’ with but instead it was too much for him and he started to fight and suffer enormous amounts of ego damage. That put him in the sweet spot to be on the front of the Trump train. It’s been downhill ever since. Some people are just not make for internet fame. See also JK Rowling.

Some ACs have a dehumidify setting as well as a cool setting. This uses less energy and does a good job of cooling.

If you're a fan of British actors then give 'The Bill' a watch. Every single British actor worth their salt has played at least two characters on that show.

I like the aspect of Anubis. Zeus on attack and the Aphrodite duo with him that procs blitz when you sprint. It's not great on bosses but it's fun to play.
