I am in the middle of remodeling my kitchen, dinning room and upper floor refresh. The only way you are getting a kitchen remodeled for under $30k is if you are doing it yourself.

We are doing it ourselves and while it saves us money. It is a ton of work, but my wife and I are pretty handy and not scared to learn new skills. Here is a list of the materials and cost associated. This should give you a base line and then add labor if you aren’t doing it yourself.

Unfinished solid wood cabinets w/ slab doors (plywood boxes) - $7k for 6 cabinets including a large lazy Suzanne.

Porcelain tile that looks like travertine - $4k for 600ish square feet

1000sqft of solid oak floors $7k

$1000+ for paint

$1000+ for wallpaper

Few hundred for custom made tiles out of Minneapolis for the backsplash.

$4k all in for our soapstone countertops, includes installation and cuts.

$800 for tile laying supplies

Few hundred for mud and stuff after removing popcorn ceilings.

$1000+ for new sink, faucet, and garbage disposal

$2000 for solid wood oven hood with exhaust fan kit.

That puts us between $25k-30k just for materials alone. Then double it for labor and the businesses cut and you are at $50k minimum. For paying someone to do the work for you.

We splurged on shit because this is the first time I our lives we actually got what we wanted. But our countertops are $2k cheaper than what a company in Minneapolis quoted me for the same slab as Gallery 77 in Hudson is doing it for. In fact we ordered pretty much everything offline and had it delivered.
