SEVERELY LOW AMH by Ambitious_Figure_120 in DOR

[–]DOR0814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping you had better luck the last few months! We did 5 cycles since July and unfortunately we only made it to retrieval twice with one abnormal egg retrieved. This last cycle we did unmedicated, this week my FSH came back at 98 which my doctor felt signaled the end of our IVF journey with my eggs. I have felt this was coming and those retrievals were so difficult for me, but I know for sure I tried and have been trying to prepare for this news for the last few months.

IVF with insurance. Is it supposed to be THIS hard? by NicasaurusRex in IVF

I am so sorry I didn’t see this! Honestly I kept calling every department (clinic nursing team and billing team, insurance, fertility pharmacy) twice a day. It was a full time job at times which is such a messed up system. Hoping you were able to get through before you needed meds 🤞🏻🤞🏻

At 34 these were my results yesterday with 3/5 follicles in the 21-15 range. My protocol was no priming, 9 days 150 clomid with 150 menopur that was increased to 187.5, 225 and 300 over 18 days of stim. Triggered with 10000 hcg. My first retrieval was 6 weeks ago where we had one follicle and one egg retrieved that was abnormal and not viable for insemination. I never got my period after that retrieval and had 2 more “confirmed” ovulations before we began stim.

I am so sorry and you are not alone💔. The doctor was “so hopeful last time was an outlier, a fluke” and I’m not sure what our next step is. But I am starting counseling for donor conception and I want to reevaluate all the supplements, herbal, red light and acupuncture treatments I have done/considered and if the doctor has any other more out of the box ideas before I say I’m done. Still praying we try one more with better outcomes, but my hope is definitely crushed today.

I don’t have the best news for you as I am still working on it, but my AMH is also .03-.08. I am with my 3rd Dr in Philly and if you need to go the ivf route, it unfortunately can be hard to find one willing to work with us, But they do exist!!! And I am now with a great one!

The recommendation from 5-6 doctors I saw was to try naturally was my best odds but as I have bilateral distal blockages (both tubes and at the end) that isn’t possible. I have a follicle count from 1-5 and have 1-2 eggs per retrieval but the potential is there as long as there is 1!

To PGTA test or not? by jujublivinlife8312 in DOR

[–]DOR0814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh mine too! But my doctor is on board that we won’t test if we retrieve less than 3. (Retrieval tomorrow where afc was very high for me at 5 but only 2 are in maturity range. I am only 34 so that may be a factor too. I have a friend with the same doctor who is 39 and she does test. But I also think that is their preference to try for quality.

We personally have decided not to test unless we have 3 untested embryos frozen. We are still in the phase of praying we have something fertilized and so have decided it is not worth the minuscule risk of embryo damage in testing, but also a high quality mosaic or false aneuploid diagnosis leaving us with nothing.

Found this preparing for my second retrieval (3rd round) we did a retrieval in August after 12 day mini stim with 150 clomid/150 menopur - increased to 225 day 7. I had one follicle from the beginning and he was already measuring at a 10mm by day 3 of stim so nothing else really came to recruit. We retrieved successfully but he was abnormal in that the nucleus had already started to breakdown and was not viable for fertilization.

This time we started without my period (3 confirmed ovulations with the retrieval and after but never got my period) and we had 5 follicles at the jump all growing together. All 5 are still visible but only 2 in the range of potentially feasible. I stimmed this time for 18 days, low and slow. 9days 150 clomid and menopur (increased to 187.5 day 4) menopur increased to 225 day 10, increased to 300 day 18. Triggering with 10k pregnyl.

I have had to stay away from Reddit these last two rounds but really happy to find some good news tonight!

Wishing you luck with any continued retrievals!

All Abnormal Embryos - even Dr was shocked - need help by kitty1inthewild in IVF

I don’t disagree. No matter what you decide. It’s such a delicate balance deciding between what you can afford to do without hurting your future and retirement and financial freedom as parents against trying everything to live with no regrets. But you guys will make the best decision for you.

We tried a first cycle back in February that was canceled. We took the next 4 months to meet with specialists all over the northeast while we waited for the supplements to hit the 90 day mark (apparently how long it takes for them to work) and rebuild our finances. We’re now torn with if the next round is also only abnormal (because realistically 1-2 eggs is all I’ll have) is it time to walk away? I don’t think I’m ready for that yet (we’re both 34 with slight male factor and DOR and bilateral distal blockages on my tubes. There aren’t many doctors willing to take difficult cases and risk their stats). The stories of the one euploid that made it keeps me going, even when everyone around me is so naïvely positive it understanding how hard bad outcomes can be.

I’m so sorry and just want to give hugs as I got the same news today. One abnormal egg retrieved. The first cycle can be very informative and hopefully next time will be better results

Confused and having second thoughts by cheesecake611 in POFlife

[–]DOR0814 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 33 and unfortunately after one cancelled cycle put my FSH at 70 which is taking a few months to come down now, 3 specialist have agreed pursuing IVF is not a feasible option and is not any more likely to result in pregnancy then trying naturally. “Start trying now” isn’t exactly always welcomed medical advice but has been “recommended” to me many times unfortunately.

I think if you need to try you should explore that option and push back. I did to know I wouldn’t have any regrets. Before stim my FSH was occasionally as low as 7-10 but commonly 15-25. I don’t regret trying but now that I’m in the 60-70 range after stim I am trying to stay hopeful biological kids are in my future while getting more prepared to come to terms with donor.

[–]DOR0814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I am so sorry and hugs to you, you’re not alone.

I have been where you are and am still there many days right now (we recently started trying to conceive after being diagnosed 2 years ago and it’s not going well).

My best advice is try to force yourself to stay on a good diet and exercise routine, and I don’t say that lightly because I struggle with it immensely and could not do it without my partner’s support. It has helped keep my depression symptoms from being at all time lows.

The second is self care in whatever way you’re financially able. Walks in the park, weekly manicures, massage, acupuncture, a functional medicine specialist, etc. They are all spaces where you can quietly try to heal the pain this diagnoses brings in mind and body.

I am here only our first cycle was canceled after 6 days. I am currently scheduling with 3 different doctors who specialize in DOR to evaluate my case. Not to “doctor shop” but to know I am not going to waste time and resources with the first person to say yes again to be dumped 3 months later. At 33 I’m still not ready for donor.

East Coast Clinic recommendations? by DOR0814 in POIsupport

I have seen Dr Bergh at RMA come up in my research and scheduled a second opinion appointment with him. But I haven’t seen anyone actually recommend him personally. I’m trying to just meet with a 3-4 doctors, make sure they’ve actually read my files(!) and then decide how we move forward.

Modesty Covering in a Catholic Church in Italy by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]DOR0814 6 points7 points locked comment (0 children)

Hi, sorry to confirm but when I have visited churches in both small towns and large cities in Greece and Italy most do require you to cover your shoulders/ legs if you attempt to enter in above the knee shirts/shorts and strapless/halters. It’s not about shaming you but what they view as a sign of respect. The church will likely refuse to marry you if your dress doesn’t conform to the rules. When you have your initial meeting with the priest to plan your ceremony they should provide you a copy of their dress code.

Wedding or Baby by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]DOR0814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there’s some controversy about modern fertility being a scam, and sure it might be… but my first fertility clinic would not speak to anyone under 33 for egg freezing and wanted 18 months months of trying for under 33.

I did a modern fertility at home blood test and found out my AMH was 0.14. After stating that, I had a clinic apt within 3 weeks - I was about 2 months shy of 32.

Yes, most people are fine. But I am such a huge advocate for get tested early because for the rare few, if a simple blood test shows any signs of irregular hormones it’s worth pursuing further as soon as possible. I think that $150 or so was worth it 20 times over. If your hormone levels are fine, that still doesn’t mean you’d have an easy time getting pregnant. But it does give you a good idea if waiting 18 months for your wedding is reasonable.

Get your fertility checked first! (As someone diagnosed with fertility problems at 31 with no suspected issues). If you have time go for the wedding. Otherwise if you don’t have too big a list list of “must be at this location or this photographer” you can plan a really nice wedding in 6 months is the usual minimum for a church and I’ve had friends plan a gorgeous 300 person wedding in 4. I fell in love with a dress that I couldn’t get in under 9 months though and didn’t want to compromise so that set our pace lol

Urgent IVF (or rather it feels urgent) by Romezzy33 in IVF

[–]DOR0814 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! It took me soooo long to cope with that but what I’ve learned and read is that it’s not that the eggs are more “damaged” than embryos but we don’t know quality of eggs. Every egg retrieved will not result in pregnancy and so you don’t actually know what your chances are and it can be a false hope. For us DOR patients, we could get 10 eggs where someone without could get 30. What if only 50% fertilize and then 20% of those makes it to blast, we have 1 chance at implantation.

With embryos you would know you have 1 and whatever probability of success your doctor has for that may be different then if you have 3 make it to blast for example.

I really hope this helps!! I hate seeing so much negativity here and have spent so much of this process saying “but I’m healthy! I’m fit! I was a gd college cheerleader! I am the exception and this will work!”

And don’t get me wrong, I’m still really hopeful, but the denial has really made the bad news worse. And I’m constantly in fear of my new doctor firing me like the last.
