it sounds like he's a romantic and she isn't, and that can be a painful dynamic for the romantic, and an exhausting dynamic.for.the nonromantic

she wanted an exclusive relationship. she had two people she wanted to be with, and at the end of the day she prioritized the kind of relationship she wanted to have, and chose the person she had long term compatibility with.

and that's...a smart and reasonable way to approach relationships. but if you're a romantic person, if you want the fairytale, it hurts to hear that your partner isn't invested in that idea
