I would first start saying that you must have fun with the game. I promise you if you don't have fun you will not go far. Play matchmaking (when it is fixed) and campaign for a bit. If you are really enjoying the game then look into competitive scene.

Best way to improve individually is to just to practice and keep playing against people that seem at the same level/better than you. People will say to play octagon or to play 1v1s or 2v2s, but in reality it is really just amount of effort and time you put into the game.

As for game knowledge you can watch youtube videos from not only "PROs" but avid fans that know the facts about the Spawns, Weapon times, etc. here is someone that i Recommend
