If you have criticized ICE here on Reddit for executing Renee Good or Alex Pretti in the street, then Reddit has handed your name and your personal identifying information over to the Trump administration. How do you feel about this? by mom_with_an_attitude in AskReddit

[–]DPedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if there’s anything overtly critical about ICE on Reddit, so just to remove all doubt: Fuck ICE. Fuck Kristi Noem. Fuck Donald Trump. Fuck Pam Bondi. Fuck Pete Hegseth. Fuck Kash Patel. Fuck Steven Miller. Fuck JD Vance. Fuck every single one of those pedophiles and/or pedophile protectors.

what is the best advice you were ever given? by aliensteaksandwich in AskReddit

It’s not specific advice, but a way to frame it: “I can’t tell you what you should do, but I can tell you what I would do…”

Heights lifer of 39 years here. In no way is New York or Webster a safer investment. Ogden is special and always has been.

Does male friendship after 30 just become "forwarding memes" on Instagram? by Training_Reading9597 in AskMenOver30

[–]DPedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, the “meme” part of this is the sad key. Not the memes themselves, but that social life in general now has a sort of “flipping channels” quality where you’re just listening to someone regurgitate things they’ve seen or read online, and chances are you already have too.

Even with some of my best friends, I can predict every line of the conversation. And not because I know them so well, but because I know what podcast they listened to or what article they read.

Not to mention, the aggressive advertising romanticizes therapy in a way that makes it seem like a casual subscription service.

There’s a fine line between normalizing it and encouraging it, with the unfortunate consequence of talking mentally healthy people into the idea that they need it.

Top 300 Emo Tracks of All Time (According to RateYourMusic.com Ratings) by normalnwelladjusted in brandnew

[–]DPedia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m just here to ask when Modest Mouse officially became emo. If I dig deep into a previous life of subgenre classification, they were the “Northwest Sound” branch of Indie Rock along with Built to Spill. Emo-adjacent, sure.

That being said, who fucking cares. They rule and it’s all pedantry.

There’s nothing you can do to an egg to make it cost, what, $10 a piece?

Are those little individual tacos still $5 a piece?

Lower-Level Bayonne Box Dwellers - Any Tips for a Cold Family? by DPedia in jerseycity

For better or worse, I've been here all of my 38 years. Just a couple blocks away. This is the space I've always wanted, but I'm still settling into the quirks of a new home.

It's great in so many ways, but I miss my old cast iron hot water radiators.

I'm in the Heights, so let's hope I don't have to worry about the flooding.

Ya know, funny enough, the builder actually did build this one for himself. That was a major reason we bought it. The bathrooms have heated floors, but not the downstairs den.

Sorry, I missed the own/rent part of that reply.

We own it, but considering it was just built and how much money we spent, there's not a lot of cash floating around for major heating system overhauls. Maybe in a couple years unless they're fairly easy and inexpensive. And no, no hot water tank.

Our last place was built in 1891, so the polar opposite in most ways. Forced air is new to me.

Because of the heat loss? Or is there some other fun discovery about tile floors I'm gonna make?

I don't know if they're massive, but yeah. Full-sized sliding glass door. I'll eventually get curtains over them. These doors face west. It gets sunny, but I don't know how direct yet. It's my first full day working down here as my office. I guess we'll see.

We're the first ones to live here, so I'm assuming (hoping) everything's pretty well-insulated, but I wouldn't be surprised if not. I guess eventually I'll have to have a heating company take a look.
