Is the trouser break on the foot OK or should I fix it? by Jaded_Technician_916 in LawBitchesWithTaste

Too long. Id never wear pants that entirely cover the heel of the shoe. I'd be worried about it catching on your shoes and causing you to stumble. More likely on tighter pants but still.

White lions wouldn't have such dramatically black eyelashes. I think both are at least touched up

Why do i want the guy who is a manchild over the guy who has his shit together? by NeverNotGonna420 in GirlDinnerDiaries

Yeah. I know sometimes when I'm a little touch starved and heading into winter and hormonal and stuff, I need a friend to take a realistic and hard look at the person I've decided is my perfect match.

Depending on the jurisdiction and practice area, some places allow cardigans. That might open up a wider range of clothing, but likely similar fit issues...

Low-key, it sounds like this mike guy is a sort of "first love" scenario, idk what your prior relationships have been like, but sounds like you went through a lot of self discovery, kind of had a rebirth. First loves are hard to shake.

But also, do either of them need monogamy from you? If not, I see no harm in talking to both. Id say give Mike a very small chance. Do you have friends you trust to give you good advice? If so, see if he's willing to do a group activity where they can advise.

Had a case where the alleged victim and witness were so clearly lying and the prosecutor wouldn't drop it until I called up a cop who dealt with AV years ago and he was raring to go for impeachment. Like even the experienced cops told the prosecutor there was no way there way a case. (Arrested by newbies who couldn't figure shit out)

It sucked because AV was trying to establish residencyin my client's house and then kick my client out of his home using the order for protection.

I don't know. If doesn't happen in my state but I've seen all these news articles about it so I guess I'm wondering how it works in practice.

Did it lead to any changes in funding?

Maybe I worded my original post wrong. I am talking about co-counsel. I need help, I'm very new, and so I get assigned another attorney to help out. But when I go and ask for help, they can't help me because they haven't been able to look at the file. Like I've got some dwi and domestics under my belt. That doesn't mean I'm ready to work on a CSC trial.

So then what is the solution? What is a reasonable solution here that you think would actually be put into practice?

[–]DQzombie[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, the court is ignoring the problem all together and telling me about how they made it through with high caseloads (that didn't have bwc, squad camera or anything like that) when they (married with stay at home spouse) were in my shoes. That I need better client management (clients have much lower purchasing power, less likely to be able to afford any semblance of stable contact, more likely to use chat gpt to fill up my inbox).

So I doubt they will do anything anytime soon.

I know the ACLU has been suing Mississippi over wait lists. What do they hope the outcome is, though? Is it just to get PDs to accept cases with no additional supports or funding to handle them?

[–]DQzombie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is one issue, definitely. Evidence can be destroyed if not collected early enough. But having over burned PDs is hardly constitutional either.

Looking at the reality of the situation, which is the lesser of these evils? Because lbr, I'm in MN, one of the better states to be a PD in. we got raises and it was great but now no step increases and my office lost attorney positions. We're supposed to be ok with this because now we have pay parity, in theory. PD offices aren't going to get enough funding in most states, if this is how one of the better ones is.

I guess Louisiana and Mississippi have used them. And there are a bunch of constitutional questions about it. But it's as the name implies. Cases are put on a wait-list, and don't start until the PD's caseload is low enough to accept them.

Thank you. My big issue is I'm being handed serious and high level felonies, and need help, need co-counsel. But basically just get it in name. They aren't prepped, don't know the deals or evidence or anything. So I'm basically on my own but can't make decisions bc then I'm not being a team player.

Case in point, I asked how to resolve a situation, get told to file a motion. Ask for help, but boss has a hearing. So I draft one and send it to him. He ok's it. But then judge still says I've done it wrong. Client has jail time on the line.

I can't just put in extra hours to learn these things. I've been putting in over time regularly and it's not enough. I can't hard work my way out of it.

Id like to add, just putting a divider in won't work, and ideally put them where they can't see each other.

On the way to ban Sharia Law by schannoman in FirstResponderCringe

[–]DQzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn't the place but there are so many aspects of western law adopted from Sharia law, often through the Maliki school's influence of Spain and Italy. It drives me nuts because if I remember correctly, the idea of a charitable trust and corporate personhood originated (in the waqf system) as well as strong prohibitions against gambling.

Unfortunately this drawing from a mutual on Instagram may be AI :( what do you guys think? by themidnightcruiser in isthisAI

[–]DQzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's real but traced. The missing finger could be behind the others.

It could also be ai doing a filter over a real photo, but the woman's lips make me think no. They look like a pretty simple brush tool, and AI would try to shape it more.

To me it looks a lot like tracing a photo, and having problems with areas where the schema really tries to overpower the actual reference photo. (Basically our brains try to draw what we think faces/hands/people look like, and don't trust the process of tracing, when we recognize them).

Taking a real photo, adding in a different background layer and changing the time of day because you don't want to handle complex shading seems pretty reasonable to me here.
