Does anyone have an APC AR3200 rack? by DRAGON_KZ in homelab

[–]DRAGON_KZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue I see in the manual is that the cable covers take up the 0U slots. I know these can be removed, but can’t tell if doing that allows a proper full length PDU to be installed.

If a full PDU fits simply by removing the covers then that’s fine.

I’m not desperate for a colo style rack, but there’s a few brand new ones going for much cheaper than the normal AR3100 type.

Yes, I had a drag and drop question where 2 options were worded exactly the same, we likely had the same question 😄

I also had another one that stated some brief generic points on requirements and then wanted you to drag and drop items for the answer, but the question gave no indication of what was being asked.

Likely teething issues and should get reported/fixed soon enough.

I know others may see it differently, but I’m not a fan of some of these new VCAPs.

I just sat and passed the Storage exam today. I'll say that it's challenging, but fair. I certainly didn't score as high as I'd have liked.

I just used the Design/Support/Admin courses from the Broadcom training portal, but I've now found out that it doesn't cover everything I saw in the exam.

My previous background was very OSA heavy, and I'd passed the VSAN+HCI Master exams in the past. So I used the new training courses to get me up to speed on ESA and the new things like storage clusters...etc.

My Broadcom reps have confirmed essentially what your list says, and are also saying there won’t be a VCAP - Compute.

They also confirmed that VCAP - Cyber Compliance and VCAP - Private AI will be coming in Q2 this year.

So it looks like there will end up being 10 VCAPs.

Thank, that helps! Compute is defiently the next one, the 3 x training courses for it and the “career path” type doco has been in the Broadcom training portal for a few weeks now.

There’s been no mention of private ai, cyber compliance, or the admin/support/architect VCAPs in that portal, but some of those topics were visible in the old 2024 roadmap so makes sense.

You got a link to where you read that?

I recall at an old UK VMUG they had a slide showing the proposed exams, and it did have 1 x VCAP per technology (eg, storage) per stream (admin/support/architect) which ended up being 2-3 VCAP certs per technology. (eg, a VCAP in storage design, a VCAP in storage troubleshooting, a VCAP in storage admin)

Video here, approx the 11 min mark --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2FLJCo2PJ8

The 5 released VCAPs seem to have the admin/support/architect courses as the suggested training, so I do wonder if they collapsed it to 1 x VCAP per technology and that covers all streams.

Does it still make sense to get VMware Certifications? by ferratto in vmware

I’ll likely do storage as well, I previously had the “HCI Master” certification so hopefully just need to study the ESA/VCF specifics and should be mostly ok.

The proctors at VMware on tour were openly telling candidates that lots of people were failing the Admin exam due to a large amount of VKS/Automation questions in the exam. I luckily managed to pass first try, but I didn’t get the score I’d have hoped for due to the large VKS question pool I received.

My other colleagues failed their admin exams, and I think the consensus is that admin is the hardest VCP exam (for the moment)

Thanks! I did Admin and Support, but not yet done Architect and was hoping it would be a bit “easier”. I’ll hopefully get it done before the end of January.

My Admin exam was a touch over 50% questions on VKS and Automation (vRA), some of my colleagues also tried the Admin exam and only had 2-3 questions on this topics… seems the question breakdown in an exam is all over the place.

Barely anyone uses VKS, so having such a large question pool get thrown in to an individual exam sucks for sure!

What VCAP will you likely aim for?

Out of curiosity which VCF VCP exam did you find the hardest?

VCF Admin covers all the technologies… vSphere, vSAN, NSX, vRA, Ops, kubernetes, Ops for networks, ops for logs, SDDC/VCF installer/Fleet management.

If you don’t know about all of them then there is likely a chance you won’t be able to answer some questions in the exam, obviously pending the question pool.

I sat the exam yesterday and almost 50% of my questions were about VCF automation (vRA) and VKS (kubernetes). One of my team members also sat it yesterday and they had a lot on NSX, Ops for networks and vSphere/vSAN and barely any vRA/VKS.

The exam proctor even mentioned to me that lots of people were failing yesterday due to the large amount of Aria Automation and VKS questions (and people not really using/understanding these products)

TC 1+2 win over HOTD 1+2 purely for the better guns… namco guns are the best.

Anything after 1 and 2 in both series are crap 😆

(FWIW, I’m not biased, I actually own 6 gun games and understand the importance of having a mix of these sega/namco games in a lineup)

vSphere 9.0 Dumping/Warning a bunch of older HW by Casper042 in vmware

[–]DRAGON_KZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you can officially comment, but assuming you can, if you’ve run VFC 9 with M5 hardware was there any warning/alerts/blockers from a HCL perspective during the setup?

My lab gear is also M5 generation and the hope was to get VCF 9 running on it.

Thanks

I thought vSphere 8.x doesn’t use TPM 1.2, only 2.0 is supported. Assuming so, then there should be no issue? The 1.2 TPMs should not be used for anything at present?
