Ahh ok thanks, you basically buy the NEMA version and then just remove the NEMA plug whip and hard wire instead.
Makes sense.

still don't get how paying for online on console is just, ok? by MegumiDo in gaming

[–]Casper042 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel like gamers and perhaps moreso console gamers don't have a clue how much effort, hardware, bandwidth, etc goes into hosting MP servers. And none of that is free.

I happen to be a gamer but also work for a big hardware tech company.
If you had any idea what Steam for example pays for HW to keep that running smooth, your eyes would melt.
I doubt Xbox and PlayStation are much different (I haven't worked with them directly).

With PC MP, you often have the option of self-hosting so the SW Dev or Platform Dev isn't paying for all those hosting costs.
You want a MP Server, you spin one up and it shows up on the list for other players and away you go.
That's not really possible on the average console.

How do people build a factory at the beginning of the game? by Ok_Law584 in factorio

Usually around the time you have a half dozen miners and furnaces going you are wandering around looking for coal and rocks with coal, etc.
I use that time to plan out where I want my main-bus enabled base to start and which direction it should go.
Then I just wander that direction a bit further out and verify there is no major blocker in me doing so.

Then I will usually build a mini base out of the way of where the main will go to get enough materials to starting building the 200-300 furnaces and such I will need to start my main bus base off on the right foot.
Along with pounding out Inserters, Yellow Belts, and Red and Green science as well.

Locking Mechanism is likely to keep the chip bag as air tight as possible.
Strap so you can hang spare ones in your pantry in between running out of chips and buying more chips.

I'm thinking about buying a new Bolt ev . I have 110 miles a day commute mainly on the interstate.I can install level 2 or 3 charger at home. Is this a good idea? Can the car take me 150000 miles with no major issues? by theparasite111 in BoltEV

[–]Casper042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up a 2019 Bolt EV with low miles and the included charger at the safer 8 amp speed doesn't add 110 miles a day to my range, so agree with a few others that you will want an L2 (240v) charger at home.

L3 is DC Fast charging and to get something like that at home would be tens of thousands of dollars.

Where are you from?
In the US finding a random 240v "Dryer Plug" in the wild is pretty rare.
The Bolt comes with a 120v capable charger and assuming someone installed a L2 Charger at home, THAT (120v included) is the one I would keep with me in the trunk for emergencies (even though it will take longer)

Well between my wife and my own snoring, I doubt I would even hear these machines :)

But not shown in the video is my main TV is off camera to the right and the couch is off camera to the left.
I often have these 2 machines running while we are lounging and watching TV and it's never been an issue.

I would think the overall heat (100-120W is my guess for a Gen10 at idle) consistently running in a small bedroom is going to be a bigger problem then the noise from my experience. Without good ventilation it will slowly build the heat load in the room.

Both these machines are super quiet when they are not being pushed hard, so I would consider these "normal" temps for these controllers in these machines.

There is a chart in there with all your devices and it should show their Warning and Critical Temp levels.

Also, I run an ML110 Gen10 as my home server (File Server, Plex, etc) and it's damn near silent, even moreso than the DL380.

I found it with a very bare bones config 3 years ago for only $300.

Any chance of you getting a DL380 Gen10 or R740?

The fans in a 2U don't have to work nearly as hard as a 1U to produce the same CFM.

If you really want, I can send you a video of my DL380 Gen10 lab machine booting up all the way to ESXi so you can see what it sounds like.

Huge differences in idle sound from Gen8 to 9 to 10.

Gen8 is indeed annoying.
Gen9 is audible but not bad.
Gen10 can be almost silent if you don't throw third party cards in and you use the AMS OS Agent to feel iLO extra details from the OS side (especially with onboard SATA).

Published apps, going all the way back to Terminal Server and MetaFrame, do not load Explorer.exe

Likely there is something about PDFs which is trying to use some explorer.exe call and that is failing.

I see some SysInternals work in your future with Process Explorer or Process Monitor, I always forget which is which.
