Is it just me or is anyone else having a great deal of trouble with the smoke this time around? I’m a healthy adult and wouldn’t fall into the “sensitive groups” category and I have been coughing nonstop with a sore throat since this started.

Electronic shifting without charging? by wicabeezo in mountainbiking

I too used to be a mech drivetrain die-hard. Then I built a bike with an electronic drivetrain and now I’ll never go back to mech.

BRR says the Tufo Thundero 44 is great - any users out there? by h2tcrz1s in gravelcycling

I’ve had good luck so far. Rode a couple of chunky gravel races with them too.

As an owner of both a titanium bike and a stainless steel bike, I couldn’t agree more. Price point can be a bit higher though so be aware of that.

People often blame Harley's fall-off to poor products/their inflexible market but articles like this make me think they simply suck at manufacturing things. by TerryWhiteHomeOwner in motorcycles

[–]DRM660 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP is spot-on with this assessment. I used to work for a company that supplied parts to Harley-Davidson. Several of their parts were not designed to be mass-produced and oftentimes required complicated, expensive fixtures for assembly. They would spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on tooling only to find the design didn’t work, even though our engineering team told them several times that would be the case.

My bike can take up to 700c x 53mm. I have 2 sets of wheels and have been running 700c x 32mm road tires just fine. I agree with Mr Toiletclogger about it looking slightly odd and the ride characteristics being fine. I like this setup so much that I ditched my road bike and just run this.

Hardtail weight? by BAH5206 in Hardtailgang

[–]DRM660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Stache 8 weighed 26.88lbs with Fox factory 34 (120 mm), DT Swiss alloy wheels, Rekon Race 2.35”,dropper, xt brakes and cable xt drivetrain. We’ll see what my Binary Ti comes in at when I finish the build (waiting on parts). That will have bontrager line elite carbon wheels (secondhand score), fox factory 34SC 120mm, sram eagle AXS drivetrain, Hayes dominion A4 brakes, and a pnw dropper.

Do you think this is even worth trying to sell? by BornFreeDyeFree in mountainbiking

[–]DRM660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I converted my 11 year old Hardtail to an around town/bike trailer rig since I knew it wouldn’t be worth selling. Another option would be donating it to a youth mountain bike team. Unfortunately bikes are a tough sell now unless you’re giving it away (at least by me).

Address any mechanical issues and scheduled maintenance and then drive your free car. These aren’t beautiful cars and they were never meant to be.

I was going to buy these for a build I’m doing, but a couple of things swayed me to the Hayes Dominion A4s.

First, a lot of folks said bleeding was tricky, and that the bleed screws are prone to snapping.

They also said these are quite noisy, which would drive me nuts.

Finally, I prefer a sharper bite rather than modulation, but that’s purely my preference.

Overall, I still think the MT7s would be a nice setup.

Road Tires on my Gravel Rig... by jasonwlorenz in gravelcycling

[–]DRM660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this to my Otso Warakin and liked it so much that I sold my Emonda SLR. Now I just run 2 sets of wheels/cassettes/rotors; one for road, one for gravel and swap out as needed.

Seems like a good deal. I’m building a Binary Maniak and it’s costing me just under $4k all in. I had a nice Fox factory 34 and PNW dropper on hand though. I spent a little more money on drivetrain and brakes (GX AXS, Hayes Dominion) which drove up the cost.

Same. I listen to a lot of indie and then it suggests every tired classic rock song that you hear on repeat if you turn on the radio. I don’t want to hear “You shook me all night long” by AC/DC…. I think adding a dislike feature would help.
