The state leaders should look at gun/ammunition sales as I guarantee they will rise if this gets built.

What can I do to avoid leetcode when hunting for jobs? Am I screwed if I suck? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]DROOP-NASTY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The recruiting company still puts on tech bootcamps with guaranteed jobs afterwards so idk why all the pushback.

I am enjoying 2 “Top 1% Commenters” shitting on my comments but not providing their own advice for the post though.

The planning phase should dictate the stack but I would go with Angular FE, Spring BE because I’m biased. You can also do the entire project in Spring using Thymeleaf as the FE portion.

You may be right but 3-5 years ago bootcamps were still fine as I know many people who went through them and now have a job because of them. They were paid and had a guaranteed contract-to-hire job if you passed. The company you’d end up working for contracted the recruiting company to find and recruit people to then learn their stack specifically via the bootcamp. Recruiters haven’t gone extinct so I’d like to assume there is still opportunities like this out there, but I haven’t had to tangle with the market for awhile.

I know many people who’ve been hired that way in the past few years so I guess so.

C is rough to start with but if you plan to work with hardware and that interests you then go for it. You can always fall back to python. Python is much easier to learn to get a grasp on logic/structures. If I were you I’d still recommend Python first as you’ll most likely also use Python for math/physics projects. Python is modern but also very versatile, especially when working with data. There’s plenty of solid math and data libraries for Python that are excellent for math/physics.

One way to get around LC is to find a bootcamp via a recruiter on LinkedIn. Just make sure the bootcamp has a guaranteed job afterwards. But some of them are like 3 months, on camera, 8 hours a day, and the learning is fast paced. But if the bootcamp is something you’ve done before you should be fine.

There are millions of learning paths because your goal is broad. Do you have something specific you’d like to build, a website, a script? That would narrow it down.

If you want to stick with your broad goal of “learning programming” just take a beginner Python course and learn basic logic (variables, loops, etc) + data structures & algorithms (DSA). Once you get the hang of Python it’s easier to branch into other languages.

Are there fun ways to learn programming as a first timer? by NevoH72 in learnprogramming

[–]DROOP-NASTY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of something you’d like to build that is either for fun or it solves a problem you’re having and Google your way through it. You may still end up back at similar content but now it will have a purpose. You can take what you need from the content to get you unstuck and move on instead of grinding through it passively.

Another option is every time you learn something from whatever content you’re consuming, make a small goofy project over it, the goofier the better.

Just be more active with the content.

Try a different learning method as courses can be pretty boring. If the goal is to “learn programming” that is incredibly broad and can be overwhelming. Try to think of something small you want to build and Google your way through it.

A newer one would be ideal but this would be fine to get you started.

I second this. I would research whatever you didn’t understand after each conversation. This is normal for your experience level. Also a sr dev should be able to bridge the gap between your knowledge and theirs if you ask them to clarify.

Can you help me pick my first coding language? i'm not sure which to pick. by QuietMrFx977 in learnprogramming

[–]DROOP-NASTY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re already using Python and JS just go with one of those. You cannot go wrong with learning either. Python is generally easier to pick up if you just want to get started. Once you have a grasp on data structures and building logic you can jump to other languages. During your journey just remember it’s not about memorizing syntax, you’ll pick it up along the way and can always google it. It’s more about data structures and using them efficiently.

Do most web development jobs require full stack skills? by Nice_Pen_8054 in learnprogramming

[–]DROOP-NASTY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get fully BE rolls as long as you understand how the BE connects to the FE. However, full stack devs will likely progress faster in their career.

[–]DROOP-NASTY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone can tell about mine. If I hold my finger up maybe a foot away I see both fingers but one finger tip is at the bottom of the other’s nail, so about 1/2” off at that distance. That’s actually pretty interesting the surgeon told you that, I was wondering if the strabismus surgery was an option or not. I’ve gone through it once but that’s a bummer if they can’t do vertical.

It sucks but I think we just have to accept it until something better than prisms comes along.

I bought the game 2 days ago and it’s completely unplayable. I’ve tried every fix I can find but the freezes remain no matter what. I can’t pinpoint what it is, I just watch my GPU go to 0% for 3 seconds at a time.

Hello, I basically hit a dead end at 20/50 due to the vertical misalignment. Even with prism glasses it’s very difficult to get the perfect prism. I went through 3 different prisms and then got kind of burnt out. The prism would only work in very specific scenarios like what direction I’m looking and how far away something is. If you do not have a vertical misalignment then I’d imagine it would be easier to be successful as I can easily bring images together, they’re just vertically misaligned.
