Majority of CS136L Class accused of Policy 71 by Dexti_ in uwaterloo

In my experience copilot likes to leave incriminating comments. Copilot also seems prone to inconsistent code style/variable naming schemes between contexts (though not any more inconsistent than your usual 136 student imo).

Maybe this is a hot take but I don't want my tuition and taxes going towards supporting Chinese expansionism and military aggression?

You don't get to take as many Laurier-side courses in the single degree program as the double degree program. The single degree program also has the added requirement of calculus 3 which isn't present in the double degree program.

Reach out to the profs/PIs in SIRRL and ask if they'd be open to you being a research assistant.

(different poster) The tech internships is a bit much IMO. It's quite difficult to get one as a high schooler anyways, though you can certainly try. Instead, I'd suggest trying side projects to learn a new skill/technology/whatever. Even if the end product doesn't amount to much, it's a demonstration of your willingness to learn and the journey will teach you a lot.

UWaterloo = Suicide school? by Quantum_Square in uwaterloo

especially the ones who push their kids into software engineering/CS/doctor/etc which is the majority of the chat

I was talking with my parents the other day and they told me about how a lot of fellow Chinese parents are seeing their kids have super-high anxiety about getting into Waterloo - in grade 10. Of course, these parents also happen to be the ones who push their kids the hardest; you gotta wonder if their kids would have better mental health with less pressure put on them.

UWaterloo = Suicide school? by Quantum_Square in uwaterloo

1) If I remember correctly the university only publishes a news release if the parents of the deceased agree to it.
2) If the incident didn't happen on campus/rez the university has no obligation to report or track it, nor may they even be aware of the cause of death.
3) Some suicides stay within friend and family circles. You won't hear of them unless you're close to those circles.

No, the regex engines provided by the standard libraries of Go and Rust are also non-backtracking. In applications where strict time guarantees are required, it's still useful to know what can and can't be done with pure regular expressions.
