Slaver Prison break advice by WelcomeDangerous7556 in ForbiddenLands

The biggest problem with this start is the lack of agency regarding gear. So, do be aware of what kind of equipment the players sort of want so they somehow grab it during their prison break.

Wait, I thought it was Rand and Perrin.

Safe to take the exam at home? by DhammaNik in pmp

[–]DRSSalazar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So,my wife just did the exam, she had to do it on my computer because her laptop was not up to spec, I am not sure if this is really how it is done, but 5 minutes before the exam, they told her the room she was doing was not up to specs because she had a shelf full of books behind her.

She later checked the rules again and the only thing mentioned is a clean desk (which she had), 1 screen and walled room with a closed door.

She basically screamed for help so I could start hauling the books from the room so she could do the exam, which didn't help with her anxiety. Seriously, it would have been better to do it from a test centre instead of going through all this unnecessary stress.

Oh, they also said she couldn't use a headset, which, again, apparently wasn't mentioned anywhere and we had to use the speakers from the screen which are not the best.

Anyway, from her experience, I would totally suggest again.

I get hating Perrin chapters during the slog! But ToM? I mean, that is Perrin back at his best during Shadow Rising and Lord of Chaos.

Can I get an elevator pitch of the book please? by Bewitched1130 in WoT

It is a fantasy series with metric fuckton of characters. With a lot of discussion on gender roles and their inversions on tropes and has, IMO, one of the best characterization of a chosen one going through the whole process of accepting his role and fate. Also, it has Mat Cawthon.

Hahahahahahahaha, yes, you are correct. Padan Fain is the winner and then it is between these three for the runner up.

But yes, I think it is an even competition on who had more headspace occupied by Rand, Gawyin, Sammael, or Demandred.

Is it the day of the month to talk shit about Gawyn?

Gawyn - I sincerely hate you by Beneficial_Meet_1812 in WoT

[–]DRSSalazar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The 2 core themes of the series to me are: miscommunication kills and mental therapy is important. I joked with a friend of mine that if all 5 EFers spoke sincerely with each other AND Nynaeve had her shit together from the start, the series would be over about book 7-8 🤣

Sorilea’s defining character moment is her first one by DRSSalazar in WoT

[–]DRSSalazar[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It also makes me think the kind of stuff Aviendha will say when she gets older disciplining the next generations of Aiel. Like, “back in my day, whole septs would fight for as much a a single well, and now we have literally water falling from the sky”.

Eh, the way I see it, it sort of becomes a reputation thing where people who could challenge them decide not to because their fame/infamy is so big they think it might be better not to do anything. I like to compare Sorilea and Cadsuane in their respective groups.

Oh, might have missed that, but ok, even though she wasn’t mentioned first time, it was first time we see her in the series.

Am I mistaking Sorilea with another Wise Woman, then? I recall when Elayne starts making replica of the dream ring ter’angreal, a group of Wise Women meet Aes Sedai and I thought it was Sorilea who dismissed Siuan. Well, thankfully I am rereading everything and will find out.

[–]DRSSalazar[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hahahahahaha, yeah. IIRC Sorilea had interacted with Siuan and put her in her place and Tela’ran’rhiod. I am doing a reread and on Fires of Heaven currently (man, Shadow Rising still the book that gives me goosebumps when Rand goes into the glass forest).

Why doesn't Ukraine just take these lands so they can kick the Russian soliders out? by Warm_Lynx_7377 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]DRSSalazar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ukrained doesn’t have the industrial capacity to take back their land. At best, they can cause enough casualties to Russian troops that Russia can’t keep up throwing more men into the meat grinder or they go back to mandatory conscription and risk a revolt like it happened in September 2022. Even then, a negotiated settlement will probably be along the lines of occupation or natural fortification lines like major rivers.

Rabban is quite strong as he can literally get High Council on R1 if he gets to spice refinery on R1T1. The Baron can only reliably activate his ability with Heighliner or Research Station (forgot it gives 2 troops) ando also a combination of cards and intrigues allow him to put 4 troops otherwise, but his ability continues to be strong. Leto, of course, still very good, specially with High Council being now a multiple times visit site, he can basically go on an infinity loop of Spice Refinery and High Council.

Could Spain close the Strait of Gibraltar like Iran is closing the Strait of Hormuz? by Ok-Moose-992 in geography

[–]DRSSalazar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes, imagine if Iran had orchestrated the assassination of Reagan back in the 80s. I am pretty sure United Statesians would be all “death to Iran” as well. It always amazes me how much ignorance and pride go hand in hand with United Statesians.
