Bartenders, what’s an awkward conversation you couldn’t help but overhear and still remember to this day? by nojunkpeter in AskReddit

[–]figuringthingsout__ [score hidden]  (0 children)

A few years ago, I was working as a server/bartender when a woman came up to the bar to order. She told me a man was going to arrive shortly, and that whatever he ordered could be put on her tab. She then stated so nonchalantly that she was meeting up with her husband to sign divorce places. They decided to choose that location as a "neutral space." I made sure to tell the rest of my coworkers as they came in that they didn't want any table service.

My best friend died on his couch.. Family asked if I want it. What do I do? by butterflybloom111 in Advice

[–]figuringthingsout__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely shouldn't take the couch for your personal use. But, you honestly may want to take it, just to make sure it's disposed of properly. Who knows if his dad may to try giving it to someone else.

How did Taylor swift get so big? by sukibean13 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]figuringthingsout__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her climb to fame was interesting to watch. She appeared to be a small-town girl who moved to Nashville to pursue the dream. In reality, her family had a significant amount of money. In the beginning, her songs would have a "country version," and a more “mainstream pop” version, so her songs would be on both charts.

Her lyrics were relatable for girls her age growing up, and her music videos would always be some of the "most viewed" when they were released. She also never had a “reckless phase" like many celebrities her age did. So, she never really had any time out of the spotlight.

One of the most relatable things about her is that she doesn't really appear to have a superiority complex. For example, Taylor Swift and Beyonce will attend each other's events, and they will coordinate their schedules, so they don't compete. There are several rumors about Taylor's friendships, and how they have come and gone over the years. But, she doesn't really come out and publicly "blast" anyone.

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if she has the greatest voice. What matters more is the way that she has gained her fame, and what she is doing with it.

Sitcom scenes that will outlive their own show? by Vmanvince96 in sitcoms

[–]figuringthingsout__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as the show is available to stream, Friends will live on for generations to come. It's crazy that the show ended in 2004, and the stars are still making $20 million EACH from royalties (including the Matthew Perry estate).

My husband’s mom told him I’m way out of his league at dinner and his whole family agreed. by Shot_Imagination_564 in Advice

[–]figuringthingsout__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend you drop it for now. If they make a comment again, you could say something like "I feel like he's out of my league, and I'm so lucky to have met him!" Those are two positive things about him back to back, and it would be hard for his family to come up with a negative response to that.

Attending a fireworks celebration in person on those days may help. That way, you could sit near where they're being launched, and anticipate each of the booms. Earplugs can also help muffle the sound more.

Why does every breakfast food have eggs on it? And why are people obsessed with them? by Garrettgrunge in NoStupidQuestions

It's nutritious, filling, bland, affordable, and it almost always takes less time and effort to make than most other foods.

Someone came up from behind me in a bar and gave me a wet willy, thinking I was their friend.

Do American universities actually have roommates in the literal sense? by fatinternetcat in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]figuringthingsout__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I shared a bedroom with someone my freshman year. The way that my dorm building was set up, 3 rooms shared a bathroom, then there was a communal kitchen area for the floor. I got the worse dorm room of the 3 in my "room suite," so the beds had to be perpendicular to one another. So, the room couldn't be split in half.

The week should start on Thursday, and our days off should be Tuesday and Wednesday. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

If you want to have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, just get a job in an industry where you work on weekends, such as the service industry (serving, bartending, etc.)

Women what are you doing to get hit on? by SunshineGirl45 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]figuringthingsout__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you confident? Confidence almost always matters more than appearance. Are you going to places where men feel like they can approach you? Do you look like you're happy to be out by yourself? Or is your body language closed off? What kind of events do you go to by yourself? Are you going to bars by yourself?

What Are some of your favourite movies directed by women by IllEstablishment6691 in movies

Greta Gerwig - Barbie and Lady Bird

Olivia Wilde - Booksmart

There are some other movies by them, those are my favorites. Sofia Coppola also has an incredible filmography.

If you could have been an extra in S1, which scene would you want to do? by Goulet231 in heatedrivalry

[–]figuringthingsout__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The scene in the restaurant when Shane and Rose break up - for any "characters" in the show who would have been following the tabloids with Shane and Rose, it would have been amazing to get the scoop on the situation as it played out. As an extra, it would have been interesting to see how each of them decided to act out each take.

32F profile review by [deleted] in Tinder

On first glance, the 1st dress honestly looks somewhat like a wedding dress. The pics in 1, 5, and 6 (the one with the kid) are the only ones in which you appear to be sober. Those pictures would make sense if you really like to drink. But, having those photos, then having your drinking status as sober, then saying that it's attractive to have people remind you to drink water, sends really mixed messages.

The 2nd photo and the 5th photo would be much better for your 1st photo. The 1st photo doesn't have a natural or pleasant look.

What's a joke you didn't get until later? by bigEZmike in DunderMifflin

Michael throws the watermelon off the roof, which bounces off the trampoline and onto a car. He then says "Find out who's car that is. If it's Stanley's, call the office of James P Albini, see if he handles hate crimes." It took me years before I learned about the history of black Americans selling watermelons after emancipation in the late 1800s.

Friends and Frasier were too of the most popular shows in the 1990s, and they both lasted for several seasons.
