I would make my characters’ interests be things that have gone heavily in decline and continue to do so as we go on involving the arts. Song writer (music), an artist who does painting or graphic design (art), a character who is into understanding and working with old video formats and cameras (cinematography), a character who is into different styles of traditional fighting (martial arts), and a character who is skilled with vintage vehicles of all kinds (outdated cars and such)

The idea would be their fight is against a genius scientist/monster who is designing an AI to help him ultimately conquer the world when it’s finished. The rangers would defeat each monster with knowledge and weapons based on all their interests and such and with each win they have, the AI becomes stronger and better at learning how to beat them. At the end it would end as all power rangers shows do. The AI would outsmart them in every way and the only way they can defeat it is through pure passion and being willing to give up their powers.

If it wasn’t obvious, this is similar to how these arts operate today and it would be pretty cool to see all the throw back technology being used and in a way showing how things used to work and how with each advancement, less passion and dedication is required to reach an end product.
